I’ll answer that: This years team sucks and so does Prohm, but comparing them to 17/18 via KenPom and other analytical sites clearly shows this team as better.

Do those analytical sites go by season to season?

Like, college basketball this season on the whole is pretty bad, so being rated higher should be easier.

2 years ago, Fred's first team, or the entire 4 years McDermott was here.

This team without Halliburton is just as bad at 17-18 and way worse than Fred’s first squad. 2011 we were Kenpom #81 as of this morning we are #82 with this group and still have 8 games to play.

He rebuilt the name but the foundation was a house of cards.

Meanwhile in this century we have a new basketball problem.

And if the foundation was shaky as you argue, (which I dispute) then CSP did nothing in the two year recruiting cycle to undue that foundational problem. Instead of taking freshmen and developing he took Merrill Holden and Bowie.

Looks similar to me.
Yeah but unless we win a couple more games I'd think our KenPom ranking will plummet. There's no point splitting hairs about this anyway. We were not good Fred's first year or the '17-'18 season.

IMO this team with Haliburton was better than two years ago. Advanced stats back that up. Without him they are just as bad if not worse

I think the ceiling for two years ago was higher.

More P6 level athleticism. There were streaks when LW and Lard were practically dictating the entire game.

What might have been...

Anyone who blames most of this crap on the coach are short sighted. Thr dribbling and passing errors are completely on the players. They have to come to high school ball without these kinds of mistakes.

Every one of these players is recruited by, developed, and coached by this staff. Any player shortcomings are a direct reflection of the staff. This kind of thing drives me crazy.

Oddly in the middle of all of it Young's footwork and ability to find a shot has seemed better.

And Horton-Tucker and Wigginton. I guess he should have been recruiting lesser players that don't leave early.

I didn't watch the game. But looking at the stats, just points per shot attempt. I sorted by the pts/attempt.
Points - attempts - pts/att
Grill 8 - 4 - 2.00
Lewis 17 - 9 - 1.89
Young 12 - 9 - 1.33
Conditt 6 - 5 - 1.2
Bolton 6 - 6 - 1.00
Nixon 10 - 13 - 0.77
Jacobsen 2 - 6 - 0.33
Griffin 0 - 3 - 0.00
Jackson 0 - 2 - 0.00

At least Tre and Griffin didn't take a lot of shots.

Here's another note: Lewis & Young only got 25 and 22 minutes. Jacobsen got 16. Nixon got 40, but I can kind of understand that since our backup point guard is probably Steyer now.
