In my opinion the only way we make the tourney is to gradually get better and grow as a team in big 12 play and peak in kansas city and win the whole thing again. We are 8-7 without a real quality win.

Before the Jan. 29th game against OU, the 2004-05 team was riding a 6 game losing streak. Their record at the time was 8-8/0-5 with only 11 games remaining. That team with Wayne Morgan at the helm was the last team to make the NCAA's before Fred.
So you're saying we're gonna make the tourney this year and then next time we make it Fred will be our coach?

Back then didn't they place extra value on the last 10ish games?

There are only 4 B12 teams in Ken Pom top 40. Maybe good news/bad news. I look at it as there are still plenty of wins out there to be had if we can start playing a little better. 10-8 in conference gets us in, especially with a win or two in KC. I think sometimes people forget how many teams make the tournament.

But do they usually make it in with those records with the kind of awful nonconference resume we had? We'd be sitting there on selection Sunday with the worst loss of anyone on the bubble.

Top 6 finish in Big 12, win out at home, and make sure you take care of the bottom 2 or 3 teams on the road.

Way up there
While highly unlikely that we win enough games, the path isn't crazy for a team that could play with some consistency. 8 of the remaining games are against OU, TCU, K State, OSU and Texas, those are very winnable games, even for a team that has struggled like we have. It's a longshot but if you could win 6 or 7 of those games and steal 2 out of the Auburn, WV, TT, Baylor games, again, probably a longshot but you'd have 16/17 wins prior to KC. In that scenario, you're in the convo. You're probably talking two wins, one of them against a good team there to get in but you'd have shot. Anything better than the wins I talked about and you're sitting really comfy.

Easiest path to the tourney is winning in KC. Simple as that. That FA&M loss is a **** stain on our resume, one in which 10 conference wins might not be enough to counterbalance. And honestly, the way things are playing out this year, getting hot and winning 3 in KC will be easier than winning 11 or 12 games.

Gonna have to go at least 10-8 in conference, and have wins over teams like Baylor and West Virginia. The FAMU game will really hurt us if we are a bubble team.

Even though they should have beaten FAMU without Hali, the committee will still take into account he didn’t play. Also to get to 10-8 they’ll likely have to win 7 or 8 of the last 9 games so momentum would be a positive factor.

Don't loose another game at Hilton. Win 1/3 on the road. Win 1 in KC probably gets us last 4 in.

We are 56 in KenPom and 69 in barttorvik. Make it into the 30's and we make the tournament.

Horrific loss to mvsu is a black eye. But if we make it back to the bubble. The committee will factor Halliburton not playing which can help

That's a big, wet, greasy and dirty spot on our resume', but the committee has considered teams in the past that didn't have their best players for losses. I think most would agree we win that game with TH, so I'll be "optimistic Mary", and hope the committee takes that in consideration if it comes to it; even if only a small amount.

Don't get your hopes up unless we sustain last night for more than 1 game at home

Prohm gets out of his own way, we don't get abused on the glass and 3's regress to our traditional mean. Then I'll be pumped
