Anyone know how much of timeline there would be on this? What’s the talent drop from gomez to small? I’ve heard good things about small but I’m sure he’s not near as dangerous as gomez. Was this anticipated or is gomez not taking care of his body?

I would say Small is a top 15-20 wrestler at 133 if he had to go, but Gomez is a top 8 wrestler. I would guess Gomez will be down by around the Vegas tournament, but have a feeling he might miss Iowa...

I don't think this was anticipated, I know the coaching staff was a little concerned about his weight over the offseason, and they were hoping he could make 133 to start the season.

Excellent question lol. Gun to my head, I'd probably take Gomez. Ian tends to struggle with some of the funkier guys, and Gomez could land a throw, but I think it will be a close match.

Agree. Was not expecting he wrestle offs to have much more than a couple good matches, but there is plenty of reason to make it there next week.

Agree think it could be a close match - Parker is good on top and Gomez has struggled on bottom, if Parker can stay away from the throws it could be a factor.

Listening to the Flo podcast the about the Cyclone season preview they talked about how big Gomez is physically. Next year may be interesting if Gomez moves to 41– AE to 49, Degen to 57 and Carr to 65.

Gomez being on his way down means Parker should have the size advantage. I’ll still pick Gomez but he might have trouble finishing some leg attacks.

Brady decided to move on from wrestling after dislocating his elbow last year. He is still hanging around the team, but focusing on school this year

Agreed. The whole 165 bracket looks like it will be a battle.
