They haven’t experienced more success than any other franchise in the history of the game by over paying under achieving players.

Tough August stretch for the woeful Orioles. Thirteen game stretch with seven against the Yankees, three versus the Astros and three against the Red Sox.

Weird year. Yanks have been unlucky as **** with injuries while lucky as **** with replacements who had previously never distinguished themselves. I don't know if the Yanks evaluators are smart or just lucky as ****.

The biggest surprise has to be Gio Urshela who was purchased from the Jays last year in a move no one noticed because he was a good fielding guy who hit .225 in parts of three season in majors and he was assigned to the minors. Got off to a hot start in 2019 after getting called up after all the Yank injuries. Was hitting .300 and everyone said, well great, but he's probably at best a .240 hitter who will cool off in the second half. Has 4 homers in two nights and now hitting .323 16 HR 59 RBI.

Ronald Acuña Jr is making his chase of a 40/40 season harder by homering too much. #33 tonight. That makes 9 HR in his last 11 games. How 'bout some singles, kid? You still need 12 more SB! Ha

And to think at least one of the "sellers" before the deadline asked for him. LOL, again just thinking about that.

Mike Ford, rookie 1st baseman, is on the mound for the Yankees. Lets you know how this game is going. Ford did pitch when he was at Princeton. o_O

Update: They should have him pitch batting practice.

Yanks Gio Urshela (who? for non-Yankee fans) batting average is up to .342. He of the MLB average of .225 before this year.

Think he may fall a few games short of qualifying for the batting title though. He's currently 17 AB short (as of yesterday).

Totally random, but do you remember the time the Yanks let Rick Cerone pitch a couple innings?

I remember Cesar Tovar of the Twins playing all nine positions in a single game. I don't remember how he pitched though.

I am so old I can remember Rocky Colavito taking the mound for a couple of innings for the 1968 Yankees. BTW, what a great ******* baseball name, Rocky Colavito. :)

I don't really care much for the current setup of Home Run Derby but every once in a while I will watch a few of the originals on youtube. And speaking of Rocky Colavito...
