I am calling shenanigans on this. Iowa State would have ranked higher had Tom Herman thrown ISU a vote.

Do I really need a sarcastic jimlad with this?

They're going to be good. And by good I mean they play in the B1G West so they should win a lot of games.

They also miss Michigan, Sparty and Pedo...get tOSU at home very early. That schedule....woof!

Aren't they picked to win the B14 West? Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern are all ranked? East has tOSU, UM, PSU, MSU all ranked, and so that leaves Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue, and Nebraska out. That's actually not hard to believe.

LOL at Minnesota's one vote.

Bet's on which big 10 west coach threw Minny a bone to bump up the perception of their schedule strength? Of Brohm, Fitzgerald or Frost I'm going to have to go with Frost.

I don't mind that placement for us. We get a little respect for the past two years, but still leaves us with a lot to prove.

I think Minnesota is underrated and undervalued. After the Illinois debacle they fired Robb Smith, the hapless DC, and the season completely turned around. They beat Purdue by 31, Wisconsin by 22, and Georgia Tech by 24.

Great to see our boys in the top 25 and well deserved.

Anyone who says preseason rankings don't matter is incorrect.

Yes, I know a lot of this stuff gets sorted out as the season goes on. But it's a lot harder to climb into the top 25 then it is to fall out.

It will be a lot harder for the big 10 teams to fall out when 7 of them are ranked in the preseason. Every time one of them loses it will be: "but...but...but it was a loss to a ranked team..." Never mind that that ranked team already has three losses.

Their big bros in the media really want to see the CFP drought end for the b1g. They usually don't get fluffed up until week 8 when the committee does their best to keep them in the running. They are just getting an early start this year.
