This. Most years the state has about 10-12 players that 247 would consider 3 star (or above), so the Top 10 really is it. Additionally, the spread between #1 and #10, when most are 3 stars is not all that wide. So saying you have 4 of the top 5 from the state of Iowa compared to 4 of the top 10 isn't saying much.I think we would all like to see ISU "beat" Iowa in recruiting in-state kids, but the truth of the matter is that there is not much difference separating any of these kids. Both schools will have to rely on player development. KF has done a very good job of that and CMC is demonstrating he also understands that 3* kids from the Midwest can develop into a talented squad.
Look at the ESPN list. Neither Iowa or ISU currently has a recruit in the Top 100. Yet either program can defeat a blue blood on any given Saturday.
The truth is that Iowa and Iowa State get the majority of high level talent in the state...which is a good thing.
