What five music acts would you want to make sure you've seen live before you die? (You can already have seen them, I suppose.)

I saw Tenacious D during their tour for the first album, and it was exactly what you would want it to be!

Sadly I had the chance to see a few and didn't due to circumstances and stupidity, and now they aren't with us:

Bowie
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Prince

Would love to see these two acts again.
Oingo Boingo
R.E.M.

another music topic, which has been discussed I think is a venue bucket list.

Because I'm old, here's my list of bands I never saw, but always wished I had:

1. Pink Floyd
2. Led Zeppelin
3. The Who (especially back when they would smash their instruments at the end)
4. Uriah Heep
5. Journey (when Steve Perry was with them)

Hmmm........am I dating myself?

The list of bands and musicians I'd like to see is always changing, but I do have a list of must-visit North American venues.

1. Red Rocks (done, and I'd happily go back.)
2. Ryman Auditorium
3. Gorge Amphitheatere
4. Grand Ole Opry
5. Carnegie Hall

Well, since you listed my 5, I'll add in the Hollywood Bowl.

I thought about it. It was either that or Carnegie Hall to round out the five. You could also make a case for the Greek Theater - every bit as beautiful as the Hollywood Bowl and three times smaller in terms of seating capacity.

edit: Oh, and the Cavern in Tennessee just for the sheer novelty of it. An underground amphitheater? Yes, why not.

May not be an impressive list but I'm not a huge concert guy anyways

Garth - seen
George Strait - seen
Steve Miller Band - just saw them finally
Eric Church
Carrie Underwood

like jbindm had on his list the Grand Ole Opry is one place I want see some day, possibly the Ryman too. I've seen a bunch of other artists of various genres already, those 5 just happen to be the more iconic ones I could think off first when I came up with it. I'm sure Eric and Carrie will be touring for a long time still so not in a rush to see them really.

1. Ludovico Einaudi - 'Una Mattina'
2. Willie Nelson - 'Whiskey River'
3. MGMT - 'Destrokk'
4. Elton John - 'Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters'

Unfortunately my first 2 would require bands getting back together:

1) White Stripes
2) Rage Against the Machine

After that, I'd take a pretty drastic turn to #3, Neil Young. Don't know why, just feel like that's something I'd need to see.

I'd round it out with

4) Pearl Jam
5) Paul McCartney
