Based on his highlights, he does seem to have good top end speed and runs away from defenders. That tells me he is a fast runner, just not fast out of the blocks, which obviously affects your 40 time very much. But, there were a ton of sprinters who beat Usain Bolt out of the blocks.

At 3.0 seconds, he's already in first place!

Does he run track? That could settle the debate. There was a good video on Youtube trying to answer the question of the fastest player to ever play in the NFL(spoiler, its Bob Hayes), and they make a good case for guys like Fournette, who ran a 4.5ish 40. He was a 10.6 track guy at 230 pounds, and is shown running away from DBs who were 0.2s faster in the 40. He also was measured running at higher instantaneous speed than anyone else recorded in the NFL last year. I should try and find a link to the video.

that's like 30% of the race.

I don't know what your point is. Anything before that is based largely on reaction time and no one will have separation under 20 meters. Unless there's a huge discrepancy in speed... which defeats the point entirely.

So he's basically the RB on NCAA Football that has like 97 acceleration, 85 speed, and 98 power!

Williams ability to separate on long runs is much more indicative of elite endurance rather than top speed

Our RB room will be a strength for a few years, only helps Purdy and the passing game. TE are coming along, We should be able to control clock and grind our some wins.
With the kids CMC is bringing in, we’re going to be able to do one whole heck of a lot of things.

Have you seen that dudes pic? I don’t think he’s interested in out running you when he can hit you like Mack truck and steal your girlfriend while doing it.

This, There was a clip toward the end of his highlights where he DM'ed someone and then rambled down the field. I think he can be one of these RBs the defense wants no part of as the game wears on.
