USA BB's feature on Tyrese:
https://www.usab.com/news-events/news/2019/06/mu19-tyrese-haliburton-feature.aspx

"So far, so good. During his excellent freshman year, Haliburton twice was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. He also led the conference with a 4.5 assist-to-turnover ratio, the fourth-best mark in Iowa State history. In addition to be being a great passer, he has been lauded for his sense of humor and teamwork."

It seems kind of odd to list that it is the fourth best mark in Iowa State history when you could say that it is a top ten mark (8th, I believe) in Div 1 since they started tracking the stat. They could also say that it was the second best qualifying season in all of division 1 this year. The only reason he is as low as 4th is because the best Assist to Turnover guy in Div 1 history played for 4 years at his school.

I'm bumping this since Hali's first game with Team USA is today at 1pm ET / noon CT and Chris Williams' post has the links.

USA Basketball's tweet on the U19 team's final warm-up game vs. Serbia says that the final was a tight 92-88 win. Hali played started and played 23 minutes, which tied for 2nd-most on the team. He went 3-5 with 6 pts; the write-up said that they got a lot of points on Serbia's turnovers and Tyrese had 3 steals. He also had an un-Tyrese like 5 turnovers. One can imagine that Bruce Weber was, well, Bruce Weber.

Great catch before hitting a buzzer-beater at the end of first. Up 24-19 at the end of the first.

Posted in the other thread about that...now we have to be concerned that he's shooting jump shots though. :)

Looked very comfortable flying around on defense.

Has the USA scored beyond 5 ft? Are we still building international teams without shooters? I see a lot of speed and athleticism; let's see if anyone knocks down a 3.

Tyrese with another made 3 (I think he's 2 for 3, if memory serves). From his few jumpers - small data set - it appears he may be shooting from a bit higher on his body. I'm trying to watch for that.

But he's a steadying influence on a team that can't seem to shoot outside and makes some bad decisions on passes.

TH is a good passer that passes to get a guy a good shot, whereas a lot of the other guys were trying to thread the needle to get a dunk or a spectacular play.

8 points, 8 assists, 2 blocks, 1 to - looked good setting up half-court offense and as an on-ball defender

Also, 3 rebounds and no personal fouls in over 23 minutes. Made 2 of 4 from three-point line.
