After just a quick glance, it looks like Uwazurike will be wearing #5 this year, Will McDonald going to #9 instead of #99, and I'm really glad that Breece Hall is sticking with #28, I love that!

No other number changes really stood out to me that much.

Sean Shaw at #2, and Datrone Young now has #1 when Tarique Milton had it on the previous edition.

I have mixed feelings about Breece wearing 28, but I'll leave that alone since there's a thread on that already. Besides, I think he will end up being great anyways.

Why? It's his step dad's old College number. It had nothing to do with Troy.

I'd say it has a little bit to do with Troy if some fans think it should be retired.
My point is he wanted it for his Step Dad not Troy. After the way Troy acted when he was back in Ames and his pitty me post on Facebook after Iowa State announced Hall would have #28 I don't think he deserves to have 28 retired.

Well, if that's the criteria, then I suppose someone needs to go over to Sukup and tell Tre Jackson (3) and Prentiss Nixon (11) they have to switch numbers.

That's fine if you feel that way. I personally don't feel any number should be off limits.

I don't either. But if we're basing it on "some fans" opinions about retired numbers, then there are a load of people on this board that would qualify.

I mean the first poster said he had mixed feelings having Hall wear Troy's number. Second poster said it had nothing to do with Troy and he was honoring somebody else. Who cares what the reason he is wearing the number. Troy is one of the very few athletes that would have a legitimate case and nobody has worn it since his brother.

If we could limit discussion about retiring #28 to the dedicated thread...

Religion, Politics, and the retirement of #28. All things that never need to be discussed publicly.
