The hard thing about introducing mutants as opposed to other superheroes is that most have some sort of singular event in which they gained power. The mutants have either been around awhile or not at all and if they've been around awhile then where are they?

They are planning an eternals movie right now which could do that or they could use the multiverse angle from Endgame.
