What is your pick for "most 80s-sounding song from the 80s"? I am not sure how better to word this - songs that are so utterly 80s sounding that, even if you didn't know they were from the 80s already, you could tell just by listening to them.

Some examples:

"Wang Chung" - Wang Chung (so very many synthesizers)
"Take On Me" - A-ha
All things Rick Astley
"Come On Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners (whimsical accordion, synthesizers, reedy vocals - also maybe my most-hated song from the decade)

If you want, feel free to do this for other decades, too. The 80s are just super-easy.

As a grown man, I think Cyndi was and still is very talented.

I consider any hair metal music as 80s. They basically died off from dance music that hit while I was in college and I started ISU in 90, so I cut it then.

Cyndi Lauper is an an incredible songwriter. As a performer, she is good, but not as good as she writes.

Agree on the hotness. However, when the Go Go's first came out, she was a bit on the chunky side. Transformation complete for the solo career.
