Kimbrel career ERA of 1.91 and WHIP of .920, pretty sure thats really good. They now have another 3 year window get another world series or two.

The best part about this is it now allows the rest of the bullpen to slide into more comfortable roles. Cishek and Strop in the 7th or 8th, CJ can be used in non-pressure situations now to get his head right, if Morrow is able to give anything this year that would just be icing on the cake.

If you consider the pro rated amount of the season he's missed, the Cubs got him for three years roughly $17.25m a year, $650K a year less than the value of the one year qualifying offer from the Red Sox that he had rejected in the off season.

Where does this put the cubs with the luxury tax?
