Monday OT: he died 25 years ago today, what’s your fav role?

The Great Outdoors has been an all time favorite of mine and it is all because of him and also because I was 2 years old and telling my mom to blow it out her @ss after watching the movie!
Uncle Buck, FTW. Also loved his role in Blues Brothers, for some reason.
Funny enough, we just watched Rookie of the Year last night for the first time in years. I had forgotten Candy was the announcer in that movie.

My parents didn't watch many movies growing up but The Great Outdoors always made the cut. We were a household of very fine tastes.
One of the more memorable ones for me was his role in "JFK". So many people in that movie were just off the wall.....remember Joe Pesci? That was a great film, although short on concrete information, it sure gave folks a lot to think about. Still one of the monumental achievements in film editing, too.
As a bartender, I use this nearly every shift. I can't tell you how many people look at me like I'm crazy. However, when someone gets it, they really enjoy it.
I'm not sure it's possible to pick a favorite role.

He didn't have one I didn't like but it's still Uncle Buck for me. That closing scene where he's standing in the driveway and they freeze it on his wave goodbye still tugs at the heart strings every time.

Thanks for posting that. I had forgotten about Armed and Dangerous. Saw that one a lot as a kid.
Lots of good choices. Uncle Buck, Planes Trains and Automobiles, and Summer Rental are classics for me. Also really enjoyed him in Cool Runnings.
He could do pretty well when being serious as well.
