I just remember the days when the pep band could still play this and the crowd did the gator clap to it. Ah the good old days.

Only one direct beverage reference, in final verse … this selection is more of an overall drinkin'/drunken groove. And, odds are, Jim was intoxicated when he wrote it and when he sang it.

According to wikipedia entry, Alice Cooper claimed he was inspiration for the "woke up this morning" line. (Also a realistic possibility).
