Is Iowa State the only reason the squawks are still ranked?

Seriously, why are they still ranked? Who have they beaten besides ISU? Watching Game Day and looking at Big 10 West standings. Iowa is the only team ranked in that division. Yet they are 2 games out, and in 4th place. I think the committee keeps teams ranked (Iowa, Penn State, Boston College etc) just to give the top teams a ranked opponent late in the year. Especially with conference title games. Surprised Northwestern isn't ranked in the top 20 since they will probably play Michigan. God, I wish ISU could play Iowa with Purdy at QB.

Not exactly sure.

Big ten lies in the largest media belt for the US. Always helped the conference and still does to the day. The media does a nice job of overhyping the big ten as a conference and in return, the teams get ranked higher than most should while they are beating up on each other.

The short answer to your question is yes. If they had another loss and didn't beat ISU they wouldn't be ranked. That's obvious.

Appears to me the quantity of good teams in CFB this year isn't as abundant.
Last year Iowa was the highest ranked 6-3 team in week 11 at 20th in the CFB playoff poll. There were 4 other 6-3 teams ranked after Iowa.

This year there are 5 teams at 6-3 ranked ahead of Iowa(21), and NC State is 6-2(ahead of all 6-3 teams) . Based on the perception of strength around the nation, it looks like a lot of those stronger 7-2 teams are MIA due to parity or whatever may be the cause.

Robins, Iowa
Mostly it is based on Iowa playing a lot of close games and beating ISU. Someone in the B10 West will always be ranked, no matter how good they really are. Honestly, Iowa is not a bad team, at this point top 25 might be a little high. Today will be a prove it or drop game for Iowa. If they lose to NW, then NW will be ranked next week, despite the woeful start to their season.

Yeah, look no further than Ohio State. Better conference rank, better chance to slide them into the playoff if they beat Michigan, over someone more deserving.

The largest media belt runs through Ohio?
