The spread the week of the game will be interesting. They will actually know a little about both teams after the first game.

Curious since 1998 when we broke the losing streak how many years ISU has been a favorite in this game. I bet it's not more than three.

Gonna guess '99, '00, and '12. Even as bad as Iowa was in 2012, I don't think it was a very big line. Expectations were pretty high for ISU that year but I think Vegas knew they were just another marginal team.

What year was this? 2001? I remember ISU was up 14-0 at halftime, and let Iowa back in and won late.

The year after was the 'Seneca game' where Iowa was up 24-7 (only 3 more points than ISU the year prior) but Iowa fans were just astounded that a team could come back from that. Hokdum was going nuts in the first half...not sure I've ever seen them so belligerent, and that's saying something.

Must have been 2001 but thats not the play that sticks out to me. I think the score was 14-14 in the 4th and Grant Steen picked off a pass. He fumbled on the return and ISU ended up turning that into the game winning FG.

I dont think ISU was favored in 2012.

Edit--Iowa was -5 in 2012.

I could see the game day line being -3.5

Unless Iowa loses to NIU and Iowa State wins their first game by 70, or Iowa suffers a major injury, that line isn’t moving 3.5 points.
