Anyone know what this is? Some Type of phone jack? Would it be easy to remove or replace with phone or Ethernet jack?

Looks like a wall plate that couldve been used for cable or phone maybe? Unscrew the wall plate and that'll tell you what's back there.
Stick some sort of metal rod in it. Do you get shocked? If not, take the plate off and see what the backside looks like.

as stated above, remove the 2 screws and take another picture for us to see the wires inside.
With no response back from OP i can only conclude that a combination of these two posts has occurred.
On second thought, knowing the smurf to smurfette ratio there is probably a 99.9% chance of it being a dude on the other side.
