So 15 years after we play Boise St in their own stadium, now we have to play Memphis in their own stadium?
Can't there be some kind of rule where a school isn't allowed to play a bowl game in their own stadium?

Hopefully Campbell's staff will prepare better than Rhoads and Co. in that debacle 5 years ago.
Not ideal, but bring it on.
On the plus side, should be a really feasible trip for our fanbase. By playing the home team, you'd think hotels will stay reasonable as hell.

They've never made one for UCLA in the Rose or Miami in the Orange...doubt they'll make an exception for Memphis.
Out of curiosity, could JP have declined this and we wouldn’t would have ended in Memphis?
Reasons to moan and groan but we're a great road team. ISU will travel well and Memphis will obviously represent so it won't be a bowl with a 1/2 empty stadium. I'm looking forward to going this.

Additional time to prepare and play in a game against a high octane team that resembles Big XII style. Great outcome for the program.
You’d think so, but at noon today I booked a hotel in Memphis to be safe and the rooms were about $80-$100 more the night before the bowl game.
Love Memphis, and the Liberty Bowl is great - at least it has a name and has been around a long time.
But playing UMemphis in their own stadium? BARF. Win and no one cares, lose and its embarrassing -- because they are a G5 (albeit a quite good team).

Memphis is ranked in the top 25 (or they were yesterday). I'm pretty sure intelligent football fans realize that. I realize that some Iowa State fans are not intelligent.
