Two great articles about Brian

The fact that I didn’t ask Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz to comment on Monday about his profanity-laced meltdown in the Kinnick Stadium press box can only be explained in one way.

I choked, or chickened out or however you want to put it.

The subject never came up during Brian Ferentz’s press conference on Monday.

And this is pure gold from our friend Chad

The last time Iowa made a change at offensive coordinator, back in 2012, Greg Davis’ first offense produced 310.4 yards per game (117th out of 124 then-FBS teams), 4.7 per play (115th) and 19.3 points per game (113th).

By that measure, Brian Ferentz’s first year was a big step up: 340.3 yards per game (108th out of 130 FBS teams), 5.2 per play (102nd) and, most notably, 28.3 points per game (68th).

How terrified is Chad of the UI athletic department/football team? I think he would be justified to say "we should expect better." That is nowhere near a "big step up" and if that same sentence was written by a reporter in Omaha about the Nebraska football team the fans would be blasting that reporter.

If you want to look beyond the Year 1 numbers, though, I think there’s a lot to like.

LOL. What he should have said was, those offensive numbers can stay the same next year and it could still be an 8-4 season because the Hawks don't play Ohio State, Michigan or Michigan State.

And people wonder why there's so little respect for "journalism" these days
