Yeah idk how I feel about this trade. They going to play Melo at power forward??
Yeah, I'd assume so. Not like he can really play elsewhere on the floor. But at the end of the day, Presti is a hot name in the league for a reason and he knows what he's doing.

They have Westbrook PG and Melo. Not a bad 3 to build around.
Also signed Burke today and rumors are for more are interesting..

Agreed. He was impressive when I saw him in Denver back in December but let's be honest, he's not doing that every night.

So what's OKC's crunch time five? Russ at PG, Adams at center, PG and Melo at the forward spots...Roberson at SG? He's good defensively but a disaster on offense. Could they roll out a supersized lineup with Russ, PG, Melo, Patterson and Adams?

Robertson makes more sense given I've never really seen Melo as much of a defensive presence. But honestly, I could see either of those likely rolling out this season at multiple times.

I don't see the benefit of that big lineup, I think you need Roberson's defense in there. Him and George give you a great pair of wing defenders. I think you might see some lineups with Melo at the five and George at the four.

Weird little jersey number scenario in Cleveland.

Isaiah Thomas in Boston #4
Iman Shumpert in Cleveland #4
Isaiah Thomas in Cleveland #3
Dwayne Wade in Miami/Chicago #3

Wade new number for Cleveland? Thomas give it up and change before he ever plays for Cleveland?

If IT doesn't give up #3, my bet is Dwyane goes with #25

That was his number at Richards. Which is now retired.

and, now thinking about it, I think he may have started with 25 when he came into the NBA but quickly changed to his Marquette #3, when it became available.

The ESPN photoshops of Kyrie switching to 11 were right. Wade as #9?

Really don't understand OKC wanting Melo. Talk about a weirdly composed team.

It's an interesting group. It could blow up in Presti's face or it could be genius. The worst case scenario is that neither Russ, PG, or Melo can set aside their ego, the offense stagnates and everybody leaves after 2017.

Best case scenario? Russ continues to be a force of nature, PG embraces his role as a secondary scorer and perimeter defensive terror, and Melo is happy with being a spot up shooter and iso specialist. If that all happens, OKC is a legitimate threat in the West. They'll be a fun team to watch, either as a contender or as a flaming train wreck in progress. The thing that bothers me about them right now is that other than Westbrook they don't really have anyone else who can create for others. PG and Melo are good scorers, but while they might draw extra defensive attention they're not really a threat to find the open guy consistently. I wonder if the main offensive game plan will still be Russ barreling into the paint and kicking out to the open shooter. The only difference is that the guys he'll be passing to are better spot up shooters than what he was working with last year.
