Ridder looks like the type of guy we would take advantage of as a stretch four 6'7 with a great shooting touch. Hopefully we contact him, beyond Harris for 2018 recruiting this is a guy I'd want the most.

I admit Ridder intrigues me. What's not to like about a 6'7" 'shooter'? Then again, I have no idea if he has the potential to guard a big12 player.

From Missouri and one of the best shooters in the 2017 class.
Had an ISU offer. would have 3.5 years left

I'm not sure how accurate VerbalCommits.com is, but here are the current scholarship situations for each of the P5+1 schools who list offers to Ridder on 247.

ISU - 1 opening http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/iowa-state
Depaul - 1 opening http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/depaul
Arkansas - full http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/arkansas
OSU - full http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/oklahoma-state
WSU - full http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/wichita-state

Apparently his reason for leaving Xavier is to be closer to home. We're a couple hours closer to Springfield than Xavier is, so maybe he'll consider us.

Positionless player. We have a few of those and they are quite useful.

He’s already following a Missouri State and Missouri assistant coach on twitter.

Good call

How is it that he would be eligible at the start of the season? I don't recall if it was Burton or McKay (or both) that left shortly after their semester started, and that pushed back their eligibility to mid-season. I wonder if Rothstein is wrong, or if this is a different situation. And please don't say, "because NCAA hates ISU" or something like that.

Apparently VerbalCommits.com isn't the greatest source of information for this kind of thing. It shows Missouri State at one over the scholarship limit, yet that is the school rumored to be the favorite to land Ridder. http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/missouri-state
Maybe he's planning to wait and enroll spring semester and pay his own way until a scholarship opens up for next season.

Burton played 8 games for marquette fall of 2014. McKay is a little weirder but he didn’t transfer until November so maybe it has something to do with how much school you’ve completed.

Pure speculation but if B.J. has a good 2017-18 maybe Talley and Shayok can convince him to grad transfer to ISU for the 2018-19 season.

Good memory

Fred recruited him too and then stopped, he was a top 100 recruit at one point I think and his stock really dipped at the end and everyone thought he was a lock for Iowa and he said thanks but no thanks

He’ll certainly have a good list of suitors. The Ivy League isn’t the Big 12 in terms of talent but 17/9 with 2 years to play is going to intrigue a lot of programs.
