Did not see stars by Columbia, too many light clouds but eclipse was visible the whole time.
For those that experienced totality, were you able to see the stars?

Just Venus...
It was probably Uranus. :wink:Actually maybe that's what I saw. I don't know **** when it comes to astronomy.

If I recall correctly, there are no pain receptors for the damage caused by looking at the sun. However, in about 12 hours, if your eyes won't focus when you are trying to read CF, the eclipse glasses you bought off the dude on the street corner might have been fakes...
Carbondale was indescribable. C'mon 2024

I agree, I feel the total experience was worth the drive. I haven't had a chance to do anything with my pictures yet. I don't have a card reader on my work laptop. Might have to go get my laptop out of the car.Was worried about those so I went south about 15 miles to Ashland. Clearly saw the three planets and even a couple of stars too.
Such an awesome, surreal experience. And no, the picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice.
Ironically we were at the airport. Tons of very expensive planes parked no doubt owned by very rich people from who knows where.Did some rough flight planning on getting down there for 2024. 7 years to plan a flight isn't too soon is it?
Being that they were talking clouds in Nebraska I went across the border into Wyoming down highway 85 near Lusk. When I left it took me 3.5 hours to go the first 60 miles with the last 7 taking 1.5 hours. After that it was pretty smooth driving.Venus was easily visible several degrees to the right of the sun, Mercury was also visible, faint, about one sun width to the left. Mars was not visible, although right there, too close to the corona. I could see no stars. Went to west central NE, travel time to: 51/2 hours, travel time home 91/2 hours. Completely stopped on I-80 once in NE, once in Iowa. Got off interstate both times and still had near gridlock on US highways. But worth it!
