Interesting revelation about the new SyFy series "Krypton":

Ready for this? Krypton—set in its own branch of DC continuity for reasons that are about to become incredibly clear—is not fully set in the past. In fact, its overarching premise is rooted in the present: because DC heroes Adam Strange and Hawkwoman will be major characters in the series, sent by a mysterious figure back in time on the biggest missions of their lives: return to the years before Krypton’s destruction and safeguard the bloodline of Superman, the House of El, from villains also sent from the present who want to erase Superman by altering the course of history.

Here is a new interesting quote from Geoff Johns about his future vision for the DCEU, which is very interesting, and worth reading:

I work with so many talented people. So there’s people that love it, and understand it, and embrace it, and then there’s people that don’t know that and you want to help them learn it, and you want to tell them why a certain storyline for a certain character might not work. Or why a take on a character might not work, or what Superman really should be.

But the whole thing is to craft and shape the story and the tone to fit the character. And to celebrate the character, instead of deconstruct the character. I think you want to celebrate the character, because you’ve got to celebrate something and build it up, I think, to really make it into something that represents who that character truly is.

And also, the fact that I’ve written all these comic books gives me a lot of crediblity coming into the room because it’s hard to argue sometimes. Like, people can tell me what Aquaman is, but if I’ve written the book – literally – it helps me out.

There is not doubt this could be viewed as a bit of a shot at Zack Snyder. Regardless, I'm growing to love Geoff Johns vision for the DCEU more and more with each passing day. I also really believe he is spot on with that quote above, and I feel that the Wonder Woman movie was the perfect example. Only time will tell, but Geoff Johns may turn into the next Kevin Feige after all. He still has a lot of work to do though to prove it.

http://www.cbr.com/suicide-squad-2-loses-director/

Now Suicide Squad reported lost its director due to the director bailing to direct the new Disney Jungle cruise movie with The Rock. Uggghhhh.... can't say that looks super good to DC, especially when you look at what he is jumping to. Man, its crazy how much of a director carousel all these DC movies end up being. Shoot, I haven't even mentioned all the debate on whether David Ayer has been removed from being director of Gotham City Sirens or not.

Of all their announced movies, I still have ZERO desire to see a Suicide Squad sequel. I get that the first one made a lot of money still purely due to its flash and new character creation, but the movie overall was terrible and left nothing but a bad taste in most people's mouth of all flash, no substance. Clearly just a money-grab is all by going for a sequel, especially so soon. In my mind, big picture is to create a wonderful DC expansive shared universe, similar to Marvel's over time and they wanna waste their time and effort on stupid Suicide Squad movies??? Can't we all think of about 40 different DC movies all of us want to see over a Suicide Squad sequel??? Shoot, that doesn't mean you can't reuse some of the Squad characters. Just reuse them in a different movie environment is all. Again, so so stupid and clearly all about the dollars.

It's possible to make a great sequel after a terrible intro movie. I know it's an outlier, but Wrath of Khan comes to mind.

Never been worried on the DCEU front as they've pretty much always been 4K Ultra-HD. Its been the Disney/MCU ones that have been the laggards and the center of all my disdain. However, I'm super stoked as Disney looks to finally be converting to Ultra-HD now with all their movies, starting with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I'm in. Now, it will more-so be a question of whether I'm willing to fork out the dough to convert my entire MCU collection to Ultra-HD once all the other movies get re-released in that format, which you know they will. I guess we'll see. I'll tell you this, my wife won't be happy if the answer is yes.

http://screenrant.com/rumor-justice-league-unwatchable-reshoots-zack-snyder-joss-whedon/

Let the smoke keep a flying. Latest rumor right now is that Zack Snyder's Justice League cut prior to Joss Whedon coming in to direct these re-shoots was "unwatchable".

That's not good news at all, but consider that there was also a similar rumor about Wonder Woman and that didn't turn out to be the case with that movie. Although, I have been reading that the reshoots significantly changed the tone of Cyborg's character - not a good sign regarding one of the primary characters.

As much as Ben Affleck has tried to deflect or semi-deny rumors of him not continuing on playing Batman in the DCEU moving forward, it looks like his brother Casey might have already spilled the beans just recently that he is done playing Batman.

http://screenrant.com/ben-affleck-leaving-batman-casey-affleck-comments/

Now, its slightly skeptical how he says it, but in the end, it sounds like a slip that he tries to back a bit off of. In the end, I think what he says is true. I don't doubt this interview will eventually get to Ben and he'll be a bit perturbed at his brother.

I just saw this morning that Todd Philips (The Hangover) is in the early development of a Joker Origin story. Jared Leto will not be involved. Philips is attached to direct and is apparently working on the script with Scott Silver (he wrote 8-Mile). I can't link to the article - it was posted on IGN and that site is blocked at work.

Apparently DC is working on a whole bunch of stand-alone/origin films (similar to the Star Wars Stories, like Rogue One and Han Solo) that aren't tied to the DCEU, so Jared Leto would still play the Joker in those films. How confusing.

There was a ton of random DC TV and movie news yesterday.

So, like I posted above, they are working on the Joker origin movie which will not be a part of the DCEU and freakin' Martin Scorcese is involved in the production.
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/joker-origin-film-todd-phillips-1202536083/

Matt Reeves claimed yesterday that his movie, The Batman, will not have any ties to the DCEU either and there will in fact be a different actor cast as Batman.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are in final negotiations to direct a romantic/action/criminal film starring Jared Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and will be shot after Suicide Squad 2. It appears to be coming before Gotham City Sirens, and may even end up replacing that movie completely.

Anna Diop will be playing Starfire and Teagan Croft will be playing Raven in the live action "Titans" series, based on Teen Titans. The series is direct-to-digital and will be available on DCs streaming platform, I don't know when that will be available.

This whole DCEU/not-DCEU crap is just straight-up getting confusing. While WB knocked it out of the park with Wonder Woman, they still have a long ways to go to get their crap together. They seem to be more concerned with announcing a bazillion future movies that change by the week right now than actually getting any of this crap into production. Shoot, they've got how many more movies announced for the future than even Marvel, yet they have a total of ONE movie in production right now, meaning 2018 will have a whopping ONE DCEU movie (Aquaman), while the MCU will have 3, the Fox Marvel universe will have 3, and shoot, even the Sony Marvel Universe will have almost 2 (the second one being released at the beginning of 2019). That's freaking pathetic.
