So normally if Assad throws 80 pitches tonight he’d almost automatically go down but with the injury Roberts can be called up right away if JT goes on the IL. that and tomorrow’s day off I’m not sure we have anyone else worth a call up.

Just a brutal last month. Haven’t won a series since the Reds 4 game sweep May 4-7
And the national league is fairly solid. The wild card teams are going to be pretty good. Going to be tough to get one of those spots. No playoffs will be a pretty big disappointment.

That might get Alcantra sent back down. Not that it matters for this team, just zero situational hitting anymore.

Gotta be some buyer’s remorse on Bregman especially when Chapman was the MVP of the series for the Giants. Cubs were in a great position to sign him a few years ago and would have been a bargain at the time for $18 million/year. Instead, Cubs are paying twice as much to Bregman who has been an absolute bust of a signing.

I wouldn't say Chapman would any better.
Chapman: .245, 4 HRs, 33 RBI, .695 OPS
Bregman: 243, 5, 19, .669

Pretty much the same player.

This team in general has a problem hitting with RISP. Up and down the roster it doesn't matter who is at the plate right now it's like a mental roadblock for them or something. We had the base case scenario play out with the pitching last night and the offense didn't do their job.
