WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Just some I'm clear, we have a budget of around $1,000,000 to recruit 12 players to a school that has vastly underperformed the last 5 years, with an aging coach who likely won't be around more than a few years and who has had serious player retention issues that appears to indicate a toxic culture around his program?

Seems doable.
1500 WBB players entered the portal last year. 300 never found a new school. There will be a bidding war for the elite players, but most transfers will not end up getting paid more.

There will be a team. It will be made up largely of players moving up to try P4 and bench players from other P4 teams getting the chance to start at ISU. Not what anyone expected, but I’ll still be watching and cheering.

On the plus side, at least the video is an answer, even if it's not the one most people want. No more uncertainty for next season (plenty of uncertainty after that).

I'd expect our incoming transfers to include a fair number of players with one year of eligibility remaining.
Quite frankly men’s basketball and football are the priority. Not one single action should be taken on the women’s team that could potentially harm either of those programs.

If keeping Fennelly is better for men’s basketball and football financially, then keep him and let it burn. If dumping him is better for those two sports somehow (culturally or whatever) than dump him.

We are going to have a very difficult time bringing anyone in regardless of grad transfer/1 year eligibility status.
It will be players from small schools that want better facilities/travel/meals/grad programs and don't care about team success.

I don't see how we're sniffing the tournament next season. We're forced to replace the following due to transfers, not loss of eligibility!!

If Bill does not retire (since Audi is leaving) you could see a team with a number of seniors from the portal playing with our returners. If he does now call it quits it will be a new coach, some of their current players and young players from the portal.

I have to take it you did not raise college athletes. Other sports are important too!

This is malpractice by the AD. I think Jamie is the best we've ever had as an AD and done so much for our athletic department... but this is ridiculous. It's obvious what the problem is and it isn't NIL money and the "state of athletics". It's that we have a coach that women don't want to play for and can't make any changes to get them to succeed during the season or during games.
I agree, but I think he’s just trying to make the best of it to save some money while the whole Bobby Hurley lame-duck year runs its course.
