WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Post the position? That doesn't happen in ANY head coach hires.

Jamie has a list of people he's interested in and will reach out directly to their agent or coach themselves. He might reach out to current head coaches and see if they have recommendations.
So I shouldn't update my resume?

Good Lord, it looks like Okie ST is following hard on the heels of ISU to be the most devastated program in the conference. Another player just declared (Lena Girardi) 40% 3 points shooter. Sumpuns going on down there. Can't imagine. But I think I smell a rat.

Edit: Just read an article stating that both the AD at OU &OSU had just met with various coaches informing them that spending had to be cut on women's sports. Maybe this is the problem. NIL is going to turn college sports into a Mexico environment. A few rich at the top and a bunch of poor's at the bottom.
Well, there's going to be like 5 programs that are focusing on spending on WBB so good luck chasing bags, girls.

I'm basically saying give it some time between announcing Fennelly is leaving and announcing a new coach. Allow for due diligence on hiring a new coach. Plus, I believe they have to post it on the state website since it is a taxpayer supported position.
I realize that that's what you're saying, but that's not how D1 college sports works. The coach we're hiring needs to be talking to people or agents of those in the portal now. Well you're not supposed to be talking until next week. I promise you they are. I have a good friend who represents Major league baseball players for one of the two big agencies. He only represents major leagues, but they have people at his firm that represent the college kids and also people that represent coaches. Kids tell these agents what's going on cause it's in their best interest and the agents talk within their firms. Pollard has had a list of who's going to replace Bill just like he had a list of people to replace Matt and I promise he has one for TJ. That's his job.

Miles earned a bachelor’s and master’s at Notre Dame before joining the Horned Frogs, but the concern among educators is that the combination of unlimited transfers and NIL deals have relegated the pursuit of a degree to background music.

"The current state we’re in, many student-athletes de-emphasize the degree and overemphasize the money, the limelight,” Scott said. “I think that student-athletes are making decisions that are much less about education and more about playing time.”

Having freedom is one thing; learning how to use it is quite another.

Heard rumors of this and it’s not surprising. I’m sure she’ll be worth a pretty penny

Not so sure about that "pretty penny" she looked nothing like a top recruit guard the few times I saw her. I doubt she ends up at a better program than Iowa. Those programs would have seen her looking slow and turnover prone. Think she would have been better off to stay and prove herself, starting guard was there for her to take.

Edit: Well, maybe UCLA would be a home state option as Three4Cy noted.

I hope this means that a retirement announcement is coming soon. I'm not one of the normal BF haters on here but the days of leaving the cupboards full are over. A coaching change brings about a rebuild, I would rather just do the rebuild once.
I wouldn’t hold your breath. Lyndsay Fennelly pretty much said they’re circling their wagons to protect the family business. Minus the Train Station part and the Ranching part ISU WBB is turning into Yellowstone under Bill Fennelly- you ride for the brand or you’re gone

I think the next Iowa State women's basketball coach has their work cut out in this new NIL landscape. Hard to see good players staying unless they are from Iowa or grew up an ISU fan.

I do wonder which of the schools with similar overall AD budgets to ISU’s have as large an expenditure for staff salaries that we do for womens basketball:

HC Fennelly - $885,000
Head asst Steyer - $220,000
Asst Coach Schaben - $175,000
Asst Coach Fennelly - $175,000
Ops director Carper - $112,500

Total - $1,567,500

That’s not counting the video coordinator and strength coach.
