*** Official Kentucky vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I would be less nervous if the media would talk less about Jefferson.
I think Pleta is due for a great game, he has been much more aggressive and this is the game it pays.
Toure will be good, because he doesn't have a complete understanding of March Madness so nerves won't be an issue for him.
I'm worried about Lipsey, all the reaching in he did yesterday leads me to think his groin is bothering him. I hope he can lead this team to victory.
Is Lipsey's groin an issue. Maybe that is the reason he did not play much on Friday.

Even without JJ there is no excuse to lose this game. I get they’re a bunch a 5* players but still no excuse. We are a better team. I’m hoping for a non heart attack kind of game but I don’t feel that will be the case lol

TSU was seeded appropriately. Furman likely was a little underseeded, definitely better, and among 16s Siena arguably better than both. Prairie View and most of the other 16 seeds easily worse than Tennessee State (and accurately seeded).
Ken Pom Ranks:
Lehigh(16) - 291
PVA&M(16) - 281
LIU(16) - 216
Howard(16) - 196
Tenn St(15) - 191
UMBC(16) - 187
Queens(15) - 186
Furman(15) - 184
Sienna(16) - 180
Idaho(15) - 155

so basically there were 3 16s and 3 15s between #180-#196, which is basically identical; it's hard to say any of those were wrongly seeded, at least from that perspective.

I could see Nelson getting 10-ish minutes in this game pretty easy, besides the practical aspect of distributing JJ's missing 35 minutes of PT. Nelson's one unique talent is taking the ball into the lane to the rim and drawing contact. If he can do that in the first half and draw 3 or 4 fouls against their two main bigs it would be a ginormous assist towards a win. Buchanan/Pleta can handle one big no problem.

When Milan has a bad game, we lose in NCAA. He will be crucial today.

2024 - Against Illinois (3 seed) 0-4 fg 1 point scored .
2025 - Against Mississippi (6 seed) 2-12 fg, 5 points scored.

Agree, not much variance in that range. It's easy to become a little distracted by how teams actually performed, vs. resume/expected.

NET shows a similar order to your KenPom list, favors TSU a little more.
Prairie View 300
Lehigh 275
Howard 203
Long Island 198
UMBC 196
Queens 189
Furman 186
Siena 183
Tennessee State 172
Idaho 145

you would think he has it in his being, not this time, and he avenges those performances.

Thanks Rulzzz so dang anxious for this game play like we did yesterday we take down the mild cats clones are on a mission 79-71 victory onto the Windy City

Why do people keep trying to push this narrative? He had two quick fouls in the first three minutes, and he didn’t need to play that much. They literally didn’t need him. After everything that happened to Jefferson, why not keep him out and make sure hes ready for today.

ISU is a wounded animal right now and if Kentucky wants this W they are gonna have to come take it which I have yet to see them do this year. They better be prepared for an absolute war out there.

My analysis—

Our paths to victory without Jefferson are :

1) our smothering defense rules the game and gives Kentucky fits

2) we can get good looks, and go off from 3

I’m not banking on #2. Tennessee state was fools gold, that was the worst team in the tourney.
100% agree
