    Woodbury.....honest question

He's been completely squeezed out of the offense. Rarely gets the ball in the post. Mostly just sets screens and hands the ball of at the top of the key.

Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

Do you watch the games? That hasn't been true at all.

Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

Uh, no. They are going to struggle next season. I think you're right in that they will improve quite a bit throughout the year. But they are an NIT roster at best without a PG with any experience. Williams has played very little this season.

    Woodbury.....honest question

Iowa appears to be coming back down to earth. Their outside shooting in January wasn't sustainable. Their bench is not good.

    Deadpool

The jokes in the previews are so lame. I like Ryan Reynolds, and he's good with that type of humor, but the movie looks like it thinks it's a lot funnier than it is. Pass.

Part of Lon's Strategy for a Win at Hilton

Jameel McKay played 37 minutes, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 4 shots while affecting many more. He had 17 deflections I think Otz said this morning. Advantage Prohm. That was the McKay that we saw last season, coming from the opposite block to change everything that came in the lane. Props...

Bench production, "the weave", and fouls.

I mentioned it after the Michigan State loss, but I think I was the only one. Denzel Valentine was running through their defense, and KU's response was to run the weave for 20 seconds and then have Frank Mason barrel into a set defense. There was no action after the weave. ISU seemed to run it...

Part of Lon's Strategy for a Win at Hilton

That might have been true a couple seasons ago. I wouldn't hesitate to zone this ISU team. We have shown that we will throw up bad shots, and outside of Thomas and Niang, we don't have anyone shooting 40% or higher. I know people think Niang is great in the middle of the zone, and for the most...

Part of Lon's Strategy for a Win at Hilton

And I think that's all we're looking for. I don't think anyone expects it to be our primary defense.

Part of Lon's Strategy for a Win at Hilton

We will mix up our defenses the rest of the season. One thing a zone does is keep McKay right at the basket, where he is most effective. Rebounding is an issue, and obviously, OU's outside shooting is incredible.

Part of Lon's Strategy for a Win at Hilton

More shots for Lattin means fewer shots for Hield/Cousins/Woodard. I'm OK with that. You can definitely get McKay in the air with a pump fake. These types of strategies usually sound good in practice. Then you get in the game and suddenly getting it to the best scorer in the country is a much...

    *** #1 Oklahoma vs #19 IOWA STATE Game(day) Thread ***

Re: *** #1 Oklahoma vs #17 IOWA STATE Game(day) Thread *** I love Fran, but he's getting a little over the top. The "presidential run" gag was annoying, but maybe I spend too much time on Twitter.

    Michigan vs Iowa

Syracuse is an elite basketball school. Indiana is not anymore.

Re: *** #1 Oklahoma vs #17 IOWA STATE Game(day) Thread *** I see Bilas will be the analyst. I love Bilas, but it seems like all he ever says anymore is, "___________ is a really good player."

    Soundoff

I've worked closely with most of the local sports media ( a real humble brag, I know). Most of them truly don't care either way. They appreciate the state's love for sports and know all fanbases have a large portion of *****. Fales was trying to get Cyclone fans worked up. Seems like a bit of a...
