The U.S. Open is next weekend (Apr 27-28). We have quite a few current Cyclones registered (info from Flo Arena), including Gomez, David Carr, Coleman, and Gremmel (all Jr. FS)(not a complete list), Hall (in a loaded 61 kg class) and Gadsen are in the Seniors (FS). Former Cyclones Storr (Jr FS), Downey (Sr FS) and Rodriguez (Sr GR 67 kg) are also registered.

Entriken, Southard, Lundgren?Any of the 2018 recruits at this besides Carr?

I think the first two are recovering from surgery.

Contenders:

  • Brayton Lee
  • Brock Mauller
  • David Carr
  • Jacori Teemer
  • Jared Franek
  • Jaron Jensen
  • Mason Phillips
  • Austin O’Connor
  • Brady Berge
  • Dom Demas
  • Jarod Verkleeren

In my mind, the front-runner here is last year’s 66kg World Team Trials third-place finisher and Cadet world medalist, David Carr. The Iowa State recruit has shown that he has the tools to wrestle any style. He can scramble, defend, or even dictate with his attacks. It’s going to be tough to take him out.

Carr and Gomez are good at FS. 6-0, 6TFs, combined score 64-3 so far. Both are in the Junior quarters. Gannon Gremmel is also in the Jr quarters.

For the seniors, Kyven, Dom Bradley and Deron Winn all made the semis.

Jake Varner also made the Semis at 125kg

Leisure is alive on the backside.
Coleman lost first round.
McDowell lost too.

Might have missed a few more not sure. Still glad these guys went.

Aaron Cashman lost in the 2nd round.
Blockhaus from NH in the semis.

The kid that beat Coleman on a last second TD in the 1st round, just knocked off the #1 seed Travis Wittlake in the quarters.
