Why is it that I cringe every time a UPS, FedEx, or Amazon truck comes by our house slowly and stops? I just say, “Please! Please! Let it not be our house!” to myself.

Not exactly sure.
I have a watch from my dad and also my grandpa. Nothing fancy, but I just can't toss that stuff. My youngest found them and asked if he we put a battery in one if they would run again. I said let me take care of that, I wound it and off it went. My son hand never seen a watch you wound. He was confused how long it would run and how you wound it. Another relic from the stone ages.

I do the same. It's rarely something that I ordered. That means that it was ordered by my wife and means that I'll be asked my opinion about the latest decoration and I will ultimately end up returning it to Kohls because if I go to Kohls, I'm done in about 2 minutes and spend no money. If my wife goes, it's 90 minutes and costs a hundred bucks, even with all of the Kohls discounts.

Home. Did not die.

Weird thing on the the kitchen island this morning. Little weather station on counter is blank. Just replaced the AAA batteries in it this winter. Look at back and the cover is off and there is only one battery and a bunch of corrosion. Other battery is on the quartz countertop in a pile of acid corrosion. Guess the battery sort of exploded. Acid actually pitted the counter top some. Seen some small battery corrosion in my lifetime but never anything like this.

And, looking on interweb and I think I know what the loud explosion sound was Feb 8th, night before I left for Mexico. About midnight I heard a loud "Bang" from the kitchen. Thought it was light bulb exploding and couldn't find anything. Settled on maybe frig making the noise but it was like a little gun shot. And, that had to be that battery.

Okay. Foods not great at the resort, in fact it is sort of bad but the weather was good. Hobbling around in a walking boot sucked and that really limited my birding walkabouts but the area is getting sort of built up and birding opps for stuff I haven't seen a dozen times is getting limited.

Still, annual time to spend with sister and chat some is always good. Although after living alone for the last 20 years it's sort of a routine shock to have people around in the morning and evenings, that's been my solo time for years and truthfully it's sort of unsettling.

Different resort this year or has the food always been like that?

Markedly declining. It's the Royal Haciendas which was part of the Royal Resorts chain of five or six upscale timeshare developments. Was Mexican owned and managed for the owners who owned the units. Some of the land leases expired and those developments were sold. Now it's down to three and they had been pushing all-inclusive rentals of the units the last five years or so and now sold everything to Holiday Inns. So locally owned with a great culture that employed a 100% Hispanic staff top to bottom to don't give a **** world corporation and you can see how it is going. :(

The beach has eroded away the last couple of years and listening to the corporate talk "we are working on it" speal they gave was interesting. The neighboring resorts built breakwaters and they have done nothing while saying they are "working on it" and blaming permits etc. Think it was maybe half true but more likely it is "This is just one of thousands of developments in our Holiday Inn worldwide portfolio and we are not dumping any money into it just to save the beach". The pilings of the main restaurant that used to have a huge beach in front of it are exposed by the erosion.
