Not gonna use a dumb reaction. I will just tell you straight up.

You are an idiot and hate TJ for some reason. You have proven you have never played and don’t understand basketball. IN MULTIPLE THREADS. You have been complaining since the start of the season.
You have no clue what you're talking about. I was in about the 30% minority on here who was excited about the TJ hire so don't even dare come up with bs like that.

Instead of thinking I hate coaches, did you ever think it's becuase I really like Watson? Nope, of course you didn't think of that.

I've been watching Iowa State for over 40 years, who gives a **** how many minutes of varsity bb anyone on this board played. It's completely irrelevant.

Well, there it is.

Just cause you like him doesn’t mean we have to talk about him not playing after every game.

Fwiw, I like him too. I like him a lot actually, but I like winning more and we are 15-1 in games that this lineup has played. This ain’t intramurals. I want to win.

You can watch Iowa State for 100 years. Doesn’t mean you understand what you are watching.

You want the best players on the floor and Watson is way better than Heise. Yes, they obviously play different positions and different roles, that is why you make adjustments and figure out which players gel together. Watson, imo, is way too good to not get 10 minutes a game. Especially this late into the season when fatigue is becoming a factor.
But Watson played most of his minutes at the 4 spot while Momcilovic was out. So would you rather play Momcilovic or Watson? The announcers even mentioned during todays game that Momcilovic is probably a better fit as a stretch 4 vs. his starting 3 spot.

I think we see Watson in a couple situations:
  1. We have a couple guys in first half foul trouble at the 4/5 spots.
  2. A matchup exists where Watson is a quicker defender at the 4 spot than Jefferson or Momilovic. An example I can think of is KU playing KJ Adams at the 4.
Otherwise, not sure why people don't get it that Heise is a 2/3 and Watson is a 4. Sure Watson can play the 3, but I don't feel he is as good on-ball defender as Heise against quick guards/wings.

And lastly, not sure why anyone would raise this question after todays game. Heise was very solid in 17 minutes: 4 points, 3 rbds and 3 steals. And IMO he might have had a couple assists if our bigs were ready for his passes. But again- Watson & Heise don't really play the same spot!

So when he's been playing meaningful minutes the last month he looks like an intramural player?

Since you're about on the level of Phil Jackson when it comes to basketball knowledge why don't you inform the rest of us what we're watching then?

I'll help you out, I understand what's going on, he picked that rotation in November, went 17-1 or whatever with it, and wants to stuck with what works. It doesn't mean we can't discuss Watson, he looked pretty good to me the last month.

If you don't want to discuss him them don't open this thread.

FWIW you want the best team on the floor. The ceiling for this team is all about our chemistry not our talent.

And since DW showed some good minutes in his chance to play and appears to cheer for teammates when he's out, etc it's clear he knows his role and standing which is all that matters.

The 'he must be devastated and ready to transfer and I hope it's not setting a bad tone or creating issues behind the scenes since this is a Final Four team' takes are just wild.

This is what I am watching.

We are 15-1 in games this lineup has played. 3-4 in games without Milan and Demarion playing big minutes.

I’ll let you figure the rest out. As I have said, I like Demarion. Good at his role, seems like a good teammate and student athlete that represents Iowa State very well. Doesn’t mean he has to play if the staff doesn’t think so.

I literally just said that.

I dont know why some of you feel the need to be nasty towards some of us that want him to play more. It's a message board, we aren't allowed to discuss topics like that?

And won by 30. In fact, with this rotation, they lost one game on a last second tip in to the current number one team in the country.

If that’s wrong, I don’t want to be right.
Yeah, we get it man, it's not difficult to figure out. It still doesn't mean Chatfield and Heise are better players.

I sure wish people on CF who post their opinions would consider this about namecalling: It makes you look weak.

Why? Because when you call someone names for disagreeing with your point of view, it looks like you're incapable of arguing on point. That your points cannot carry the day, are not convincing.

Myself, whenever I see namecalling, I think, 'Well, that guy lost the argument.' But maybe that's just me.

Ok, but you have to trim someone’s minutes if you add a ninth person whose minutes will you cut. Want to play 8 and keep it the same minutes? You still want a balanced rotation. Chatfield and Heise do that better than Watson does with the roster set up the way it is when all are healthy.

No one is being nasty on purpose but literally every single game since Maui there is talk about Demarion’s minutes. We are a last second tip in by one of the best teams in the country from being undefeated with our full roster. Let that sink in.

Yet a small handful of you still want to ***** about minute distribution after EVERY game.

One of the things I like about CF is there's not (normally) much namecalling. The ones who resort to it stick out like a sore thumb (and usually end up on my Ignore list).

You don't have to add a 9th guy every game. I was just a little surprised he didn't get in sooner today since we were blowing them out most of the game.

So don't get involved when we start talking about it if it upsets you that much.

Watson played solid at what he was being asked to do. Rebound and defend at the 4 spot. But we also saw an offense that struggled.

Tell me which player you would take minutes away from to give minutes to Watson?
  1. Jeffereson (4/5)
  2. Momcilovic (4/3)
  3. Jackson (5)
  4. Chatfield (5)
Look at todays mintues: Jefferson- 28, Momcilovic- 22, Jackson- 21 & Chatfield- 11, Rock- 3, Fish- 2 & Watson- 1 = 88 Total minutes.

So that group played 80 minutes at the 4/5 spots and 8 minutes at the 3 spot (Momcilovic: 6 & Watson: 2 (mop up with Fish & Rock in the game).

IF Watson is going to play minutes, maybe the question should be: Should Watson play over Chatfield?;)

Ok, but when you have 2 guys not practicing (Tamin, Milan) regularly, with one of them missing the last month of games as well, wouldn’t you rather have those guys playing and gelling rather than getting the 9th man in? That seems more beneficial to team success, especially with the turnover issues that come because of that non-practice.
