Don't mean to be a downer here, just saying before we get too excited about #1 seeds and Final Fours:

- A six-round single-elimination tournament is a terrible (but fun) way to determine the best team(s).

- In tournaments 2000-present, the average number of #1 seeds in the Final Four is only 1.45, and there's been more than two #1 seeds in the Final Four only twice.
Whether or not we get a #1 seed, I still like our chances for the FF if we stay relatively healthy.

Our analytics right now point toward a potential deep Tourney run. And just the makeup of this team: so balanced, with experience, elite depth, and outstanding guard play.

We don't need one guy to have a great or even a good game. Other guys step up big time. We average almost 6 guys in double figures. That's really hard to defend.
And then on the other side, our D is elite.

This team can survive an offensive turd like the dreadful '15 UAB Tourney loss because of our D. And that makes us somewhat "upset proof" come Tourney time, so to speak.

I love this team. They're truly special. And I think they have a really good chance at greatness when it's all said and done. We'll see...

Stats only tell part of the story. Watching the game, you did not want either one touching the ball there at the end. And Heise was getting worked in OT before he fouled out. Relatively speaking, they played terribly.
Did you play,dude?

Which is why the NCAA tournament is the best tournament of any kind. Anything an happen, and we expect the unexpected

That’s why I enjoy the journey. Appreciate moments like today. Because in the tournament, everyone will lose their final game except one team. But no matter when ISU exits the tournament, we can always look back at the great wins throughout the year
