I’m going to be really annoyed if Duke jumps us. Would make absolutely no sense, but I’m not confident that there isn’t a chance of that.
Duke won by 8 at home against a terrible ND team, and we won’t on the road against a fringe top 25 team. Tech was 17th on net before that game, and notre dame was 99th!

I don't know if we'll make it there as the tournament is so random, but this is the type of game a team needs to have in their pocket to get there. Even the most deserving teams will likely run into a game like this.
Sure, completely agree about the randomness of the tournament. But it comes down to which teams have the ingredients to minimize that randomness potential and make it through.

He needs to find a way to knock down those open shots though. We can't have 1 guy out there airballing stuff with the game on the line. His shooting has been very poor this year. If he shoots anything besides an easy layup I have zero confidence it's going in.
He's third on the team in 3pt percentage, ahead of tamin, keshon, and jefferson. 31.8% is respectable.
And #2 for the guards in overall FG% behind keshon
Today, he was a bad shooter and yet the right five guys were on the floor at crunch time.

Jefferson probably played his worst game offensively as a Cyclone with all of the easy missed bunnies, and STILL came up absolutely clutch. Dude is special!
He was 6/10 from the field. He missed a couple bunnies, but that's part of the game.

A lot of times the final four isn’t really random. Sometimes it is, but I think this team for sure has the tools and it will help if they can set themselves up with a 1 or 2 seed again.

Agreed, but you’re missing the biggest data point

I think it probably ironically benefits us that our game was so close.

We go in and get a comfortable win and fewer people see it than they did when we took it to OT and gutted out a win. Showing that ability to fight through is more impressive.

I'd love for a fan to play one game to see how easy these "bunnies" are. There's nothing automatic about hitting a contested shot inside, no matter how close it is. You should make them at the rim. Same fans who think any time a player is within 7 feet of the hoop that you should just dunk it. Too many video game players who've never played a competitive game of basketball.
