Thanks Rulzzz!

I feel the ISU basketball team needs goals to do the following:

1. Win the conference. (Something I think they need to do more often.)
2. Win the the Big 12 tournament. (We have been respectable enough at this, so that some other Big 12 teams have crossed it off their list.)
3. Make the NCAA tournament and advance. (Enough said)
4. Beat KU. (Once again something we need to do more often.)
5. Beat Iowa. (Rivalry games are about shutting someone else up.)

Never too soon to get something off the “to do” list.

Go Cyclones!

Love that we are top 10 in both offense and defense - we've never done that before.

Our gap between TO% offensively (12.9%) vs defensively (23.8%) is insane - I didn't realize we were doing that well limiting TOs on offense. Iowa does force a lot, so it'll be a key.

And Iowa is a horrible rebounding team - hitting the offensive glass will be a key. This is a Presidents game - and Chatfield could really do well, he's by far the most prolific offensive rebounder, getting almost 20% of our misses while on the floor

But the game will come down to this:

Iowa is giving up a really high percentage on two-pointers. We are shooting an amazing percentage on two-pointers, really across the board. Jackson and Jefferson have a high percentage, and Keshon, Tamin and Curtis have all increased their percentage greatly. If we can keep with the trends on this, we will win.

If any college students are on here with nothing to do on a Thursday night, Carver still has plenty of extra tickets available. Crazy to see, but man they have apathy over there in Iowa City for a decent team that will probably be a borderline NCAA Tournament team depending on how games like this go for them. I would be there but am coaching boys basketball. Would really love to see an ISU invasion and this year lends itself to that with all the empty seats. Pile up your car with 4 of your buds and hit the road to Carver! Spontaneity was the best part about college life.

Hope the Cyclones show up and dominate. We'll see, but some extra Cyclones in attendance would help.

That won’t go over well for Iowa. Obviously we have many great ball handlers and we have bigs that are able to run.
I hope you are right, but that zone/half press for some reason has given the teams they have played some stupid turnovers for some reason though.

The 4 games they have played against decent competition they are forcing an average of 15 turnovers.
Now, they still lost 2 of those games is the good thing.

IMO, we need to stay around 10 turnovers or less.
I like to use the grading scale for games like this.
We are ~2 grades better than Iowa.
So if we play a C game, then Iowa will need an A Game.
If we play our A or B game then its going to be a long night for Iowa.

We just need to avoid the D and F games. C game makes it close.
we also need to remember this is our first road game of the year.

I worry a bit about our trap, if you can reverse it 3s are wide open, if we just play them straight up man, I think it would be tough for Iowa, but we aren't going to do that.
*See BYU game (I know we won 2 game but they were hot and I was nervous late).

0-4 is hardly a "curse" but whatever. It's tough to win on the road, period. Gallagher-Iba was a far worse stretch.
When you only play every away other year that's hardly crazy in college basketball. 16 was an upset, 18 and 22 teams were pretty close to each other iowa state was little better but Iowa was at home. Hardly upsets. 20 Iowa was of course lot better. I don't think theres anything to crazy about this.. Road football team winning last 4 is much more surprising imo

All four of the teams that lost there over the last decade were (at the least) very flawed. The best was Prohm’s team with Shayok and Horton-Tucker. Talented team but wildly inconsistent. The 2022 team was reliant on hot shooting from Gabe Kalscheur to score. Hunter was still figuring things out.

Holy **** I didn’t realize it’s been that long… a decade

FWIW that's only 4 times.

'16 CSP didn't want to play a freshman much at the 5, imo ISU thought they could waltz in with Monte and co. and got jumped on and didn't know what to do. Monte talking about a post-game party before hand didn't help much on the bulletin board material.

'18, Iowa was pretty good and ISU had a talented but weird roster that would later infight and have a good but bumpy season; Iowa seemed to know there were egos and targeted ISU players in addition to playing out of their minds.

'20, Worst ISU team in over 40 years, Iowa decent with a NPOY on the roster.
'22, ISU gets jumped on while Iowa hits about everything to get Franny's 500th win or something, doesn't have the offense to come back, and previews further issues later in the season where they would literally start dribbling off their legs if a game got weird.

'24: who knows. ISU's good and better but will still need to be on point as Iowa runs out there like it's the last game they'll ever play.

They have neither defended nor rebounded well this year, but this will be one of a handful of games where they do so tonight I can assure you.

Otherwise, they can score and they like to get up and down at a fast pace. Like typical Fran team.
I am somewhat worried about the Zebras, as others have mentioned Fran is going to be Fran and whine a lot trying to get them to call anything on us.

Was Hunter on that team? I thought he transferred after the 21-22 season.
