You ever experiment with a substance that did nothing for you?

I couldn't think of a better thread title, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

I was watching 90210 tonight, and there was a scene where Kelly used cocaine.

It made me think about my time with it (Wow.... That sounds REALLY bad, but hear me out).

So back in Spring 2010 I experimented with cocaine for the first time. One of my best friends at the time was using on Fridays to get him hyped up for when we would go Clubbing that night (my "Clubbing" phase only lasted a couple months). He insisted I try a "numby", placed some in my lower lip, and it was.... Weird.... I hate feeling any form of numbness in my body.

A week after that, I snorted a line the old fashioned way. It did nothing for me. Week later, I do one more, and..... Nothing. I think I was (and still am) just naturally wired all the time that it had no effect on me (or maybe I just didn't notice?). Whatever, haven't done it since.

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, my oldest friend (of now 30 years) had some mushrooms, which we took at my place after a night at Prairie Meadows.

He took too much, and I took too little. He was out in minutes while I'm just sitting around thinking "Well, what do I do now?".

Though back in August 2007, that same oldest friend had some Oxycontin and I experimented with that. Those two nights are probably still the most relaxed and comfortable I have ever felt in my life.

It. Was. AMAZING!!!!!!

Though I would never do it again, as I know it would kill me now. I'm 99.9% certain I would get addicted nowadays.

With the exception of one time a few years ago with my father with weed, I haven't experimented at all since Wednesday, October 16, 2014 when I had the worse experience with weed. It was clearly laced with something, and I was hallucinating on the drive home from Saylorville Township, and terrified I was going to get pulled over as I was intentionally driving 10 under just to be safe. This was between 1:00am and 2:00am.

Which is kind of funny, as I'm the only one in my family that does not smoke weed. My mother and unofficial "stepfather" of 28 years (they're not married) do it daily, as does my sister. I just don't like how it makes me feel. Makes me feel TOO RELAXED to do anything!!!!

I like to tease my mother a lot as she is such a free spirit, and she was in her 20's in the 1970's. She claims she wasn't some crazy party animal that did tons of drugs, but I like to think I know better.

Hahahaha.

I love my Mom. She is the best, an absolute badass, takes no s***, and is my hero. Though she has admitted to me she did Coke and Mushrooms in her younger years a few times.

Just a few fun stories I wanted to share, think you might get a bit of a laugh, and if you're comfortable, I would love to hear similar stories.

Love you all. Trust you all.

Not an illicit substance per-se, but Vicodin does absolutely nothing for me. Oxycodone makes my head fuzzy, but does little for pain. I’ve had degenerative back issues since I was 18, now 54. I’ve had quite a few instances where I couldn’t even move my leg without excruciating pain. My Ortho’s answer was to take another one. Aspirin did more for me as far as pain relief. It must be a body chemistry thing because my dentist has had to drill a couple of teeth before without the lidocaine kicking in because he just couldn’t give me any more than he already did.

In the long run, I’m not sure if it’s good or bad, but I’ve developed a huge tolerance for pain now. My last crown I had put on, I told the dentist to just start, if I needed a shot, I’d hold up my right hand. I never lifted a finger. Don’t get me wrong, it hurt like hell, but it wasn’t worth hurting like hell and also having the fat lip feeling.

I was prescribed 30 milligrams of Vicodin daily for 7-10 days. (Can't remember exactly as it was about 20 years ago) I was straight up stoned. I would go to the store and when I left I would have no idea where I parked. To this day I always try to park in the same area.
As far as anything else, I would find it difficult to trust anything they sell today.

At the insistence of all my friends, family, and Cyclone Fanatic, I watched Breaking Bad and Yellowstone. Couldn’t finish either because I find all the characters to be despicable.

The first hour is all waiting, then about halfway through the second hour, you start cursing the creep who burned you, because nothing is happening...and then ZANG!

Someone told me to take Magnesium to help with sleep. It wasn't any easier to get to sleep, but I had some of the most ****** up dreams you could ever imagine.

My late father was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in 2008. When his high school science teacher salary wasnt able to pay the medical bills, he started to make and sell some meth. You probably know the rest of the story.

Tried marijuana a couple of times, did absolutely nothing for me.

I was on Oxy for a dislocated pelvis. I hated feeling “altered” while on the meds, so I decided **** that, stopped taking the painkillers and just withstood the pain. I would rather feel the excruciating pain when sitting or laying down than how the Oxy made me feel.

Nicotine. Don’t get me wrong it’s stimulating like rocket fuel for the brain when you first wake up especially, but I never found it even remotely pleasurable. I vaped 5 mg carts heavily for 8 months to see what it was like to get addicted to something and as a test of willpower. I did indeed get very addicted to it, but I just started walking 5 miles a day and got addicted to that and threw my vape in the trash. Haven’t touched the stuff since.

I tried coke a couple of times in college a decade ago but I would never do it now with the rise of Fentanyl. But I enjoyed the mania, confidence, and euphoria.

Loved MDMA, LSD, and shrooms. I’ve only been able to get my hands on them a couple of times each. I was microdosing with morning glory seeds for a period of time and I don’t know how people use them for productivity because even 15 or so seeds go me flying.

I drink a few grams of Kratom daily and before Kim Reynolds ruined it I was taking low doses of edibles (20mg) everyday which also knocked me on my ass.

I practice meditation so I am acutely aware of subtle changes in perception and I’ve always been rather sensitive. I can feel very drunk after drinking a couple of beers, and I can feel profound euphoria from drinking coffee. Lavender, chamomile, and even peppermint tea can produce noticeable effects so I guess I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum as far as the question goes.

Add me to the list of people that Vicodin and Oxy do nothing for. The only prescription medicine I’ve ever taken that I could actually tell did anything was a muscle relaxer I took when I had a back problem. I’ve also had things like antibiotics that I’m sure did something, I just couldn’t feel it.

Because I'm dangerously curious, if I knew 100% that I would not get addicted or seriously harmed, I would probably try anything once just to know what the effects are.

The reality is that weed and alcohol are the only things I've done. I haven't done weed in forever and maybe only have a drink or two a week. I take very little medication, so any pain meds stronger than aspirin will make me light-headed and sleepy.

Weed doesn't do anything for me, which is too bad because it's legal in my state and I'd like to be one of the cool kids ;-). I get a nervous heart rate, dry mouth and paranoia.
