***Baylor FB Game Week Discussion Thread***

They were at home.

This Baylor team is eminently comparable to the Houston team we just played. The two are literally next to one another in the total offense and total defense standings.

Both teams played at home last week.

This time around, we have the Jack.

It won’t be close. Decent chance of another shutout.
Baylor is much better than Houston and this will be the best offense our defense has faced so far. I expect Baylor to cover 13.5, hope i'm wrong

It's close enough to sold out that it'll look jam packed on TV. Keep in mind the pink seats are already sold, but the current owners are trying to resell them: 1727792638005.png

But, as I've expressed about other games on the schedule, I have a hard time blaming too many of our fans for not getting excited about most of our home opponents this season.

Yeah, I have since heard this feed back and it is fair. Its just. I am watching this man drop DOTS on 15-20 yard routes and I am just asking for consistency on 5 yard out routes.

IDK how much a physical impairment would impact a 5 yard out route considering it should be a fairly easy throw. However. I get it, and if it is that I hope he gets it right and healed up.
Sometimes a lower body injury can result in a player not setting his feet right or trying to be light on one leg on the "easy" throws when he thinks he can cheat a bit to avoid some pain. This can result in a throw sailing or diving. He might set up right on a longer throw and play through the pain when he thinks he needs to put everything on a ball.

Not saying that is what is happening, just that it could be an explanation.

There’s zero reason this game for this game not to be sold out. Kind of a poor showing from the fanbase in terms of attendance so far this year IMO
I know I've been tooting this horn quite a bit, but this is the new norm in years we don't host Iowa. I'm not excited to see what happens to the crowd in a year we start poorly and don't play TOE in Ames.

Were you at the first 2 games? The opener was packed and then 2 weeks ago I expected a significant dropoff with the heat and opponent but at kickoff/first quarter I looked up and balcony (at least on west side) was full to the top. As others have said, just spotty blips of seats here and there available for this one. I wouldn't be ripping our fanbase when that is all that's left.

Was at the UND game, was disappointed with the crowd for that one. I get it’s not UNI but a home opener should always be a sellout in my opinion. Had to miss the Arkansas State game due to a wedding, so I know it’s the pot calling the kettle black.

Pretty sad that Iowa State could potential have one of their best seasons ever and people are having a hard time getting excited.

I remember sitting through all those 3-9 season with CPR thinking that if we ever get consistently good it going to be hard to find a cheap ticket to the game.

We have some of the most expensive tickets in the whole big 12. Not sure we have a large enough/rich enough fanbase to consistently sell out a stadium of this size. I'd be ok with lowering capacity by replacing some of the bleachers with individual folding seats.

The game against UND's attendance was listed as 56,148, but I think it was closer to 59k at kickoff....of course even though the game was frustrating, we were pretty firmly in control and it was hot so people started leaving early....and then Arkansas State was decently full but was a step down from the UND game....and not only did we dominate, it was super hot so by the start of the second half, we were down to probably 40,000 fans.

We are now #16 in the country and hosting our first conference opponent of the season on primetime national tv...and the game is themed! I know Baylor isn't the sexiest opponent in terms of brand recognition but come on people, this is Big 12 play! The most important part of the season is now!

No Iowa, no UNI, and only 1 Big 8 opponent (that falls on Thanksgiving break) at home. This may be our most promising season to date, but matchups matter. I was hoping this game would be a fast sell out ( I still think it will, just taking longer than I expected) because I think this is our best chance to truly Pack the Jack until Farmageddon, and that'll only be full if things stay on track.

I also think there are more casual fans than we'd care to admit that buy into the notion that the Big XII is a shell of its former self and have tuned out a bit.

I think it was on 2 Guys they thought ISU was wearing their regular whites against Baylor but it seemed obvious they would wear the white and black for the whiteout game

2 Guys is not the best source. Just trying to be clever.

I was gonna say this too.....we got shafted when it comes to Big 8 opponents....every other Big 8 school plays at least 3 other Big 8 members...

K-State plays all Big 8 members....Oklahoma State, KU, Colorado, and Iowa State (Oklahoma State and KU are their home games)

Kansas plays K-State, Iowa State, and Colorado (they get Colorado at home)

Colorado plays K-State, KU, and Oklahoma State (K-State and Oklahoma State both at home)

We get K-State and KU.....and only K-State is a home game

I love that Vegas thinks we can be listed as double digit favorites...... but I'm honestly not there yet. Let's just win regardless of final score. If ISU can leave Morgantown with a nice win, then maybe I will start to feel the confidence. We are ISU, not Georgia. I still feel we need to earn it. We still are not playing our best yet either. That being said, it is now October.... when we do tend to crank it up a notch.

If we still had the Big 12 lineup from the 10 team era our home schedule would be something like this (in no order of dates)

North Dakota

Arkansas State

Baylor

OU

WVU

Texas Tech

K-State

Thank god to get a good commentator again. I know the guys on FS1 are the d team but good lord were they awful. Screaming at the top of his lungs for 20 yard gains.
Love Brando with the Clones!

Serious question. Under what perameter is Baylor better than Houston? Honestly curious for people’s input.

It struck me listening to Williams & Blum, Brent said that Baylor has much better skill players than Houston. Yet when I look at Big XII stats, not a single Baylor player listed in the top 25 for receiving, one RB at #22 in rushing—and their QB is #12.

Their offense is #15 in the conference in total offense to Houston’s #16, defense #6 to Houston’s #5.

Oh…and that offense hasn’t faced Jon Heacock yet.

Honestly curious. What am I missing? Thanks for helping.
