Flag Guy,

Where are you at in Maryland? I'm currently in Chevy Chase. I've been to the Washington Cyclone Club in Crystal City but haven't found much support there. Nice to know there are some Clones out here.

I support Georgetown in MBB.

and who do you secretly root for when the Clones are in the crapper. I always liked Oklahoma when I was little. Just because Iowa State did not have much to root for. They were still my favorite. I just like when OU came to town.

When I lived in Arizona I went to all the ASU games. It's nothing like Ames. The tailgating is decent. Just does not feel like your at a college football tailgate.

So do you root for whatever team you have near you?

I live in Arizona, and I root for the Sun Devils as my second team. But I know what you mean about the atmosphere at ASU games. I haven't taken my boys to an ASU basketball or football yet, because I'd rather take them to an ISU home game instead to get a better feel for college athletics. We do go to several ASU baseball games each year, which is fun.

I don't really root for any team around here. I can't stand IU OR Purdue fans. I pretty much live in Indianapolis, so those are the two fan bases I see most. I usually hope Notre Dame wins, but it's more because it seems like all Squawk fans want them to always lose.

I've followed Kentucky football a little bit, but more because the quarterback of the high school where I live verbally commited there last year.

You live in my bank? :jimlad:

I'm down in hicksville, err Southern Maryland

I've hit a few events in Crystal City, but it's a 2 hour drive for me to get there so I don't make it up very much

Illinois. Chicago specifically and with the big 10/ Notre Dame bias around here I cannot bring myself to cheer for any of those 12 schools. I've always kind of liked North Carolina in football but I can't say that I actively watch them.

Austin, Texas. I cannot stand the Longhorns (they do not need any more support) but holy cow do they have nice facilities. It is a joy to watching college athletics on their campus.

Every Sunday in the fall, the Cowboys and Texans are on the tele, and the Cowboys are definitely the big brother. You cannot go anywhere in public without seeing a Tony Romo or Terrell Owens jersey. I followed the Texans loosely when Sage was starting... now I don't care whatsoever.

The Clones will be in my blood forever and I cannot imagine cheering for another college team. The wife may be headed to Texas Tech for grad school but I find the Raiders tough to cheer for.

And of course, even in Austin I run into some Hawk shills every now and again. Just yesterday I was driving to work and got cut off by an F-150 with a giant tigerhawk sticker in the rear window.

I live in Wisconsin, originally from Iowa. I root for Northwestern because sometimes they are like us in sports.

Northwest Iowa, which I'm told is part of Iowa. Although you wouldn't know considering the fan base and lack of state spending.

I root for the Clones when the Clones are in the crapper.

Minnesota, grew up near Des Moines - I root for the cyclones in every sport. the only gopher thing i am kinda getting into is hockey because my wife is from MN and loves gopher hockey. I usually go to the MN vs Iowa football game and root for the gophers. that is about the extent of my rooting outside of ISU for anything.

When the Clones suck, I root for the Clones.

About 100 pegs below ISU, I also root for Va Tech (wife is a grad) and I'm starting to root for Duke since I'm in grad school there. I always hated them growing up in Iowa, but now that I'm here I realize its a pretty good place. I especially like Duke football......makes me feel at home.

I live in Iowa City, which I consider a state of mind ,not a geographical location. Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of this community I love. But I have always gotten this off-kilter creepy vibe with a city that considers themselves "progressive".

As for teams I root for, I became interested in college basketball about the same time the Big East Conference started a brand of basketball never seen before. Syracuse and Georgetown were two of my favorites teams of all time. (However, until Johnson is gone from Syracuse, I will cheer every time they lose) The UNLV teams 87-91 were so good that my mother would let us stay up late when they were on.

Hell, there are even Hawkeye teams I followed. Players like Steve Carfino, Jeff "Woodpecker" Moe, and the late Chris Street were a joy to watch. Hate the Hawks as much as you want, but did you seriously not get excited when Armstrong, Marble, Gamble, Horton, and "insert white center" took the court? That much talent in the state on the same court was worth watching.

I loved watching those teams! Too much fun.

I used to stay up and watch Loyola Marymount if I got the chance.

I think it was 1987, I convinced my mother to let me stay up until Indiana-Wisconsin was finished. She kept checking in, and they kept going to overtime. 5 OTs later, Wisconsin had the upset!

I'm kind of a junkie.

I live in Mizzou land and no, I don't cheer for them. I don't mind them because they aren't loud mouths but I have a hard time. When ISU is doing bad I usually pick another Big 12 team to root for. This year it would be Texas A&M and/or OU. I like them both and I LOVE Blake Griffin!

I live in Iowa and always cheer for ISU. I have also always been a fan of Alabama football ever since I had a cousin go to law school there and went and saw the campus and football stadium, I didn't get to see a game though unfortunately.

Iowa...always been a Fightin Irish fan. Recently became a Cyclone supporter.

I guess I would also add that the majority of my family on both sides are Hawk fans, but not the obnoxious kind.

Being in this area it's automatic to actively cheer against the Hawks. It isn't so bad when they're doing bad like this year in BB, their fans all crawl back into the woodwork.

Generally I cheer for the underdog or historically down-trodden teams in every conference. Was a bit of a VA Tech fan back in the 80s after we played them in a tourney in TN and I met some nice fans from there.

Hate UCLA in basketball, but don't mind them in Football. Never minded USC. Hated Miami when they had the thugs. Always kinda pulled for FSU and Bobby Bowden but I remember when they were not the powerhouse they are thought of today. Hate Notre Dame because they are on TV every week and get extra consideration in the BCS bowl rules calculation - which sorta backfires because they always end up being WAY overmatched and losing. This area is very big x centric and really think the big x is superior in any and all sports.
