I live in Indiana.... but I always cheer for the Clones. However, if I pick a little 11 team, I'll cheer for the Illini because I like Bruce Weber and my girlfriend went there.

And just for the record... the Hoosiers are just like the Hawkeyes... their fans are just as ******** as the hawk fans. Plus, I think the Hoosiers might have more "sub-alumni" (people who love the sports team, but went to a community college near by) then the Hawks. And the funnier thing is none of them cheer for he Hoosier football team, just basketball team. All the hoosiers cheer for Notre Dame football... it's screwed up...

I think if I lived in Indiana I would definitely by a Purdue fan. They seem like Indiana's ISU. With everyone else is creaming over ND in football, and IU in basketball.

This is true... if I had to pick an Indiana team, I cheer for Purdue... they're better than the alternatives... although I was cheering for Ball St. in football this year...

I've been living in Texas (north Dallas) for a little over half my life after growing up on the Iowa farm and ISU. I just can't stomach rooting for any of the relativley obnoxious Texas teams so I'm just a die-hard supporter of I-State and try my best to make sure these Texans know about us.

Other than I-State, I'll admit it fully, I'll root for Iowa and Northern Iowa - anything Iowa!!!

In state.

If I didn't root for the Clones, I'd probably watch very little college football. Like the NFL better. Bye weeks suck.

I live in Nebraska and I will always pull for the cyclones... If I ever show any enthusiasm towards nebraska sports I give my roomate full permission to drag me behind his car down I-80 back and forth between Omaha and Lincoln until my demise. My number 2 team is whoever's playing Iowa... My 3rd favorite team is whoever's playing Nebraska.

Live in the KC area and cannot stand KU or KSU. I guess Mizzou would be my favorite local team and cheer for them whenever they are playing anyone but ISU

I don't mind cheering for the WY Cowboys. It's not like they ever play ISU. It is actually kind of fin to share in the misery of the sports programs with Wyoming fans. They haven't had much luck either. Their best program recently has been their women's basketball program.

I live in Iowa City, which I consider a state of mind ,not a geographical location. Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of this community I love. But I have always gotten this off-kilter creepy vibe with a city that considers themselves "progressive".

As for teams I root for, I became interested in college basketball about the same time the Big East Conference started a brand of basketball never seen before. Syracuse and Georgetown were two of my favorites teams of all time. (However, until Johnson is gone from Syracuse, I will cheer every time they lose) The UNLV teams 87-91 were so good that my mother would let us stay up late when they were on.

Hell, there are even Hawkeye teams I followed. Players like Steve Carfino, Jeff "Woodpecker" Moe, and the late Chris Street were a joy to watch. Hate the Hawks as much as you want, but did you seriously not get excited when Armstrong, Marble, Gamble, Horton, and "insert white center" took the court? That much talent in the state on the same court was worth watching.

I live in KC as well (kansas side), and still being in Big 12 country I can't root for any of the local teams. Watching KU, KSU, and Mizzou lose always makes tomorrow better, especially when I don't have much to brag about as an ISU fan.

I'm out in Maryland, and am surrounded by Penn State grads, with a sprinkling of Flordia Gators and VT Hookies (like my boss)

That said, I'll pull for the Terps, but not on any real level of support (no gear, etc).

I'll root for the Big XII over anyone else, otherwise not much.

I can't say the Orioles or the Nationals are worth following as an alternative to ISU, even if I did grow up an O's fan

Couldn't care less about the NBA, don't follow the NHL but I went to Caps game and that was fun. I haven't quite gotten over my mom's strong dislike of the Redskins (she was born in Chicago), and the Ravens just didn't exist quite yet as a team when I last lived in MD, so they haven't grown on me yet.

On a whole, until I have cable it just won't matter, since the only way for me to follow a team is to listen to ISU broadcasts on Yahoo radio  (Or Virginia Tech on a particular radio station.... :arghh:)

I live in California (Los Angeles area) When I am not rooting for the Cyclones (no matter how poorly they are doing) I tend to root for USC. Mainly because I can't stand UCLA. I lived in Westwood for a while when I first moved out here and most of the students were a little too full of themselves. Once they hired Nuheisal (sp?) that sealed the deal. I have hated that guy since his days at CU. That and USC is the closest thing that LA has to a pro team, and they are always on TV.

Oregon now. Don't really root too much for Oregon or Oregon State. Lived in LA for 8 years, and worked with the people from USC, so I still root for them (and against UCLA), and I lived in Georgia for some time, so I still follow them, at least in football.
