Bracketology 2024

Nebraska probably wont play in Omaha, but that scenario isn't unheard of. We played LSU in Milwaukee as an 11 seed. Granted Lincoln to Omaha is much closer than Ames to Milwaukee, but point stands.
There is no probably won’t about it, they won’t. The top 16 seeds are protected, they won’t face a team in the first or second round that has a geographical advantage.

Or we're that team that finds a way to win even when we run into a rough patch.

Every team will have those moments in the tournament. We've certainly had enough experience to know how to respond.
Ya there's never a guarantee but we are way more upset proof than the Hoiberg years. This team reminds me of the really good Virginia teams, which wasn't good in 2018 but then 2019 they won the national title. Just never know

Free throws will kill us. Everyone has to remember that the selection field puts teams against each other that are opposites. We will face a mini byu team that will hit their threes while we struggle scoring. I love our team but this isn’t the time to have offensive woes.

Just enjoy the amazing season we're having. You're a downer for no reason and making assumptions. Maybe it's just to soften the blow if it happens...I get that. Ha

Very nice chart. It helps demonstrate why it's been so annoying hearing Kansas fans complain about their schedule in the past couple of weeks. I understand why they're annoyed about having to play at Houston, ISU, Baylor, and Tech all this season. But they were complaining about those games as if they were the reason that Kansas is down in the conference standings (before two of them had even happened). However, this chart beautifully shows that the reason they're further down in the conference standings than they'd like is because they've lost very winnable road games, despite actually having a significantly easier road schedule than Iowa State did heading into today.
Kansas : we are better than everyone/

Also Kansas: Our schedule is hard because we have to play these teams better than us.

Good thing about playing a run-and-gun team is they’re probably more turnover-prone which plays right into ISU’s hands.

No? lol. Let’s hope we clean up our free throws and score more than 60 in the tourney. That’s not being a downer LOL

Historically NCAA tourney is about games played in the 60's.

That kind of game is right in ISU's wheel house.

Also UCF has a top 10 scoring defense.

And 3 point defense has been much much better . OU and UCF were not good at all.

Johnny Dawkins said ISU makes you work so hard on offense they more or less take your legs away.

Offense is the concern with this team and I think the decision-making by Gilbert and Lipsey is the key for us offensively. Somehow they have to find the right balance of aggressively attacking and not forcing it and turning it over. Yesterday was a perfect example. Gilbert was solid in the first half and we scored 36 points. Then in the 2nd half he became a turnover machine and we scored 13 points in the first 17 minutes. My jaw dropped when I checked the stats and he had 9 turnovers. That is a crazy number for 1 player. But then he gets that steal and takes it 1-on-1 and gets the bucket and the foul to put us up 6 late.

If we can get the good from those 2 with less of the bad then this team will be a tough out throughout the tournament.

As others have said, in the last four games, we faced the #1 defense, #10 defense, #37 defense and #77 defense (per kenpom). That's going to make you feel like your offense is a concern. #55 and #19 are coming up, so it doesn't get any easier, but I think that hardens your offensive toughness and that should be an asset in the NCAA tournament.

Nebraska is going to be a 15 seed?
Doubtful...those usually go to mid-major teams that either won their smaller conference outright with a glittery record or won a conference tournament even though they didn't finish 1st in their regular season and would not otherwise been selected.

Learn basketball, we just faced the #1, #10, and #20 defense in the last 13 days. It's almost like elite defenses can make good offenses look bad sometimes.
