Texas has a lot at stake for this game. we can play without all the pressure, and this is an advantage for us. they are already focused on this game and know what's at stake. they are 1-4 against us in Ames these last 5. the O line and D line will win this game for us. what Hufford said IMO doesn't matter.

Agree. We are playing with house money. Just making a bowl game with the losses we had in the offseason was a big accomplishment. All the pressure is on them.

I get wanting to speak your mind, lol, but may have opened a can of worms that wasn't needed. We know Campbell does more with less in terms of recruitment and development and sometimes you can prefer taking a "lesser talent" and coaching them up more because they have the drive. But, adding fuel to the fire and creating unneeded buzz for all these 4/5* talents probably isn't the brightest idea. I hope this isn't a create a FAFO moment for Hufford. He likely put a target on his back and you could have just said hey, we know they have lots of talent on that team and we look forward to their visiting of the Jack. We plan to give them a game. Easy as that, but I guess if you want to stir the pot, hoping you don't eat your words. They better back that talk up.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this game. Being an 8 point dog at home doesn't exactly spell confidence, but I hope the guys come ready to play. Going to need to see some pressure and TO's from this defense.

I'm a Texas player. I have one of the richest AD's and all the resources available to me. My team is comprised of some of the most highly sought after players. We are in the mix for a CFP spot. But thank God that OL had an extra spicy quote about our game or we would be in danger of not being ready for that game.
Jatavian said BET in ALL CAPS. Do you know what that means?!?! No really, do you know what the newly aged lingo means?

They've seen it and are going to clearly use it as material.

On one hand, why give the opponent motivation?

The other hand, it's a rivalry game! Bring out the trash talk.

Who cares? Texas isn't scary. Not anymore than usual anyway.

Hufford said out loud what every single team has been saying or thinking about playing Texas "one last time" all season in the Big 12.

If anyone thinks this is a surprise or some "extra" motivation for a player on their team, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.

For me, I hope what Hufford said is representative of the mindset of our whole team. I love the energy, and I hope they all want to send them out of our league in the proper fashion on Saturday. BRING IT ON

The O-line's finally showing some nastiness and I love it.

Black in particular seems always ready to rumble.

I think Hufford's comments are motivated by the fact that most pundits think Texas will win this convincingly and that their D-line will dominate.

Our O-line's been playing really well lately and I think they're confident. As long as the "talk" is backed up on the field, I'm fine with it.

If we’re being honest, bulletin board material probably isn’t as much of an influencer as media and fans make it out to be.

Of course we can point to specific quotes when particular things happen (say a player goes off), but there’s an entire universe of quotes that made no change to the expected results of a game (e.g., Iowa’s Anderson “saw a lot of opportunity” against our secondary, their passing game sucked but we still lost- not like it really changed the game to our favor there).
Uh... no.

Missouri and UAB used to hang negative press clippings in the locker rooms when Pinkel was there and they would play radio clips of people doubting them to the players during practice, warm ups and the summer. This from a buddy of mine who was a SA at Mizzou and GA and assistant at UAB. This was when Pinkel was at Mizzou.

So bulletin board material = totally a thing.

And giving that they got embarrassed the last time up here, are in a national title hunt and are scary good, they don't need anything extra and now? Now they have more motivation.

Also, not to be a downer, we need to be realistic. Texas 100% has the chance and ability to boat race us.

Do I think they will? Maybe? But this idea that the only way they blow us out is if we're too pumped... not quite. They are that good. I hate Texas but they actually look like they are back.

I'd sell whatever's left of my soul for a victory. I'd sell it twice if we managed to boat race Texas WHICH I ALSO THINK has a small chance of happening. But I am trying to be grounded and not let myself think with my heart because when I watch Texas, I usually end up saying WOW. They arguably should have beat Oklahoma, and that game with OU was not entirely close.
