Classic reference…….Right about nowwww, I’m about to present the sound zone….At center we have MC Rob Jones and JT easy Rock. Sorry had to do it
He has to be redshirting. Better to be practicing against big 12 bodies than South Dakota high school players.
Agree completely. I think his family knows with his size playing his senior year in HS wasn’t going to help him much. The NBA loves youth and JT has some size and skill, but has a lot of work to do. This gives him an extra year of development with the staff, practice, and strength and conditioning.
University of Texas just announced one last weekSo like...no senior year of high school or season?
How common is this?
I know football players tend to enroll in the spring but that's after their football season.
WRNL reports that Nick Osen of 247sports says JT Rock will redshirt this season. But I can't see how this would be set in stone, pun intended. Accelerated development, injuries, etc... could bring him into the court one would thinkIf he’s NBA bound, there’s no reason to redshirt. Anymore, if you’re in college for four years you’re too old for the NBA. So if he’s not planning on using his entire eligibility, might as well get him some time on the floor this year to further that development. Probably not significant minutes, but enough to get a feel for Big12 play.
Does it really matter? He’s still coming to Iowa state not like he decommittedI wonder what this does to our 2023 class ranking...

It Takes Two...do we nickname them, "Joy and Pain"?At center we have MC Rob Jones and JT easy Rock. Sorry had to do it
The NBA doesn’t exactly value players like him anymore. Rock doesn’t scream athleticism like Chet Holmgren or the other bigs that declare early. In my opinion Rock is way more likely to have a long college career like Edey, Garza, Tshibwe.I guess I don’t get it. Does ISU think he’ll be here 5 years? Wouldn’t that be a pretty big disappointment considering his recruitment? And if he’s not showing the development needed to go pro after a couple years, wouldn’t he transfer anyways? I’m just failing to see how keeping his ‘27-‘28 eligibility benefits more than getting him playing time this year to help his development.
