Do you want him back at all? He intentionally broke the most black and white rule in the book and did it in the facility (allegedly). I'm not sure that's the guy you want in the most high profile position on your team.
I think it is way too early to see with Dekkers in the situation. As others have stated it totally depends on what he bet on and the size and frequency.

If it seems too much for Campbell to handle and he has to cut ties then so be it.

Brock Purdy needed Zeb Noland to stumble, with every door shut comes another man's opportunity. If we have to play Rocco Becht a lot i'm interested to see what the kid is capable of.

When Becht won this, I certainly took notice. He may develop into a hell of a player.

Too much Pete Rose 1980s mentality in this thought process. Yes rules clearly defined and apparently broken, penalties should occur, but you going to kick to the curb players on something that legal for most and 2 game suspension some of the true criminal violations we see from players in college sports?

I haven’t quite made up my mind if I want him back or not? Sounds like what he did might be pretty bad, but I normally believe in second chances too, and I think CMC does as well.

It does kind of depend on what he bet on IMO.

I agree it depends on the sport or games he bet. Anything he's involved with becomes serious. If he bet on other sports or even other CFB, then it's just a matter of a bone headed mistake. IMO, that would be no worse than a kid getting an OWI. Give him a several game suspension and move on.

But, this is the NCAA so they'll drop the hammer on this while looking the other way on a academic cheating scheme at UNC or a athlete brining a gun to a friend to murder someone at Bama.

Three of the guys on offense I’m hearing got caught would be a big loss. Hopefully Clanton has the young OL humming and we have someone to step up in the slot

It would be a lot easier for him to develop with a good OL, competent running game, and some safety valve targets in the passing game.

I have no idea who any of the players are, except for Dekkers, but I have a bad feeling whoever it is could be done for the season. At a bare minimum I think it will be half the season.

But if someone like Dekkers misses half the season, he isn't going to come in halfway through and become the immediate starter IMO. At that point, you just roll with whoever has been playing.

How lenient will they be?

As of the other day, unless they win an appeal of sorts, the penalty is one full year of lost eligibility.

With the way SEC school's get slapped on the wrist for serious legal matters I would be SHOCKED to see any southern state acting like this.
Unless I’m mistaken, as for SEC markets, online sports gambling is only legal in Louisiana, and Alabama just fired their baseball coach for suspicious activity related to a game/games between Alabama and LSU, although it was the Ohio gaming commission that found the activity.

We need to stop looking only at states where it's legal. That doesn't matter. Here in Wisconsin it isn't legal but it's rampant amongst college aged sports fans.

"The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, they are going to give Cleveland State the death penalty."

This thread is making me feel like we are gonna be Cleveland State.

I’m considering only states where online sports gambling is legal because geolocation should prevent such gambling in states where it’s not legal.

If online sports betting is not legal in a state, yet it is occurring as you say, there is a problem with the gambling apps, and we are talking about a completely different issue, one that the FBI would be all over and your DraftKings, Caesers, etc would be completely ******.

Wisconsin is a “victim” of geography though. They border Iowa, Illinois and Michigan. All 3 have legal online sports betting. People in WI can have accounts, but they shouldn’t be able to place a bet while inside the WI border.

Hopefully they were all smart enough to bet heavily on the under win total once they were caught.
