Didn't see any threads on this (remove this if so), but wanted to start a thread on the state tournament this week.
looks like Grandview is moving on past the first game.

Grandview Christian should be forced to play 3 or 4A. I wonder who their next "exhange" or "adopted" 6'11 extremely athletic child from overseas will be?

I agree.
The problem is GV only have one sport in their whole school that competes like this.
I think at minimum they should play up to 2A with a multiplier rule.

as a small town guy, I hate to see towns with 50 kids per class that are truly putting together a roster of 4 sport athletes to compete against 7', 6-9, 6-7 and they are all playing together year round and do nothing but play basketball and hang out a coaches personal gym. Totally get that.

Seeing Marion in the 3A field reminds me that despite being a lifelong Iowan and having family in that area, it was only a few years ago I learned there was a school district called Marion. I never knew there was another one besides Linn-Mar.

Gotta admit it's weird seeing Hoover in the 3A tournament and Norwalk in the 4A.

I think teams like Bondurant and DCG and maybe North Polk are going to be the other three metro teams that are going to cause some conference realignment.
Going to be hard for those teams to compete with the larger schools.
It is wild to see these teams like hoover going down to 3A though.

Bounderant farrar declined an invite to the Little Hawkeye. Seemed like a good fit as they and North Polk are going to grow out of the Racoon River

Really? I thought that was a done deal? Made perfect sense for Bondurant to be in the little hawkeye with Indianola, Norwalk, DCG, Newton.
For example, The Bondurant girls soccer team has about 75 girls out. Hard to find teams that have enough JV1 JV2 teams etc. That was the main reason DCG left a few years back.

It is landlocked by LM and has VERY little development. That being said it is a solidly middle class district as the extreme overwhelming majority of the population is single family homes below $250k in value.

Yep. One of those schools that will pretty much stay the same size indefinitely.

I went to a small school and played sports, and from watching scores and rankings in the newspaper, state tournaments, etc., I thought I had at least heard of every other school out there, at least before all the consolidation of the last 20 years. (Meanwhile kids at big schools just miles away didn't know who we were, but I digress.)

But I was legitimately floored to learn of the existence of the Marion school district, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was just a few years ago that I found out.

Anyway, good luck Marion! I will root for you for at least one game. I've got a soft spot for Hoover so no promises in the semis.

Great game between Madrid and North Linn just now. I think Madrid was the better team in the box score in just about every statistical category except turnovers. Just gave the ball up way too much, other than that, hell of a game.

All schools that can go "recruit" kids in this way or similar should have their own class in Iowa and own State Tournament and should not be allowed to play anyone else!!
