I think the system is stupid but I also donate monthly. Hopefully at some point we just start paying the players and it is all fixed but need to survive this.
I understand change is unwanted for many, but sustained success in college football has always been a fan-driven effort in both paying for talent, and alumni donations for new facilities, amenities, and perks for athletes. This has not changed in 50+ years.
The only change now is the money going to talent is out in the open, and the barriers to entry to participate in that effort are no more.
Do I think it’s a little odd? Yeah. Do I love ISU and want to do whatever I can so they can stay competitive? Yeah. Do I think you’re an asshat for calling people who donate “brainwashed”? YeahI was not saying just ISU fans are brainwashed. It’s anyone who thinks this is fine. The whole system is insane. TV networks are paying these conferences billions of dollars, there is so much money in college football, yet the fans are the ones footing the bill while the schools and conferences are raking it in.
If you want to donate that is fine, it’s your money do what you want, but you have to admit that this is insane. These players should be getting paid by the universities directly, not by the fans. There is no other model like this in professional sports. Why do you think that is?

Not to mention just helping out these kids that give so much to ISU. Blum does a great job of highlighting some guys (Isaiah Lee, Anthony Johnson) that have unique situations and more than deserve a little extra. Lee is supporting his little sister in Ames. To be so against this is just maddening
Still blows my mind people got brainwashed into thinking it was the fans responsibility to pay for players to come or stay at their school. This in no way should have ever fallen to the fan. That is the reason I will never participate.
You folks have to understand that someone donating to WWC doesn’t mean they endorse the way things are in CFB currently. It sucks, I agree, and I don’t think anyone here would say this is how things should be.I feel for guys like Lee supporting his sister, but the reality is there are thousands of stories like that across the country (within athletics or not). I agree with AllIn, there's no reason that should be the responsibility of the fan - the fan who already supports that very effort via tickets, donations, etc.
These athletes already get full scholarships for an education (which helps them support sisters AFTER college), great athletic training, meals, clothes, travel, and more. If that's not enough, there will be another guy who would jump at the opportunity.
Finally, if the university is gaining more than the athletes are being compensated, it should be on the university to compensate them.
We only have 6K+ Cyclone Club members, with a program that offers a low annual donation. No way WeWill can get to 10K. Hell, we graduate 9K a year, all degrees. This thread is a good example of why we can’t compete against most other P5 programs.Reality is that NiL is here to stay and it is not going away.
I find it quite shocking honestly that we cannot get 10,000 die hard ISU fans to donate just $10-$20 month.
If an ISU fan chooses not to donate out of principle that is their choice I guess. All it does is put ISU behind even further.
Do people know how it looks when the perception is ISU fans are cheap? Don't think future recruits look at twitter or message boards..they do.
WeWill offers a monthly subscription now with benefits.
Everyone uses Amazon Prime now or most should. Make sure to sign up for Amazon Smile under WeWill. Every purchase a % goes to WeWill.
Yeah, I understand and agree with that - I'm thankful that those of you who can donate choose to donate to this. Absolutely. You folks have to understand that someone donating to WWC doesn’t mean they endorse the way things are in CFB currently. But it’s not changing any time soon. Iowa isn’t going to stop taking NIL money because Tailg8r on CycloneFanatic doesn’t like the system. We are donating to keep ISU competitve.
I understand you don’t like the system but PLEASE stop dragging people on here for donating (not you specifically, just a lot of people here in general)

You are doing your part! Especially, if it’s a stretch for you.Yeah, I understand and agree with that - I'm thankful that those of you who can donate choose to donate to this. Absolutely.
For me, the tickets/donation are tough some years as it is, I need to fund my own 2 girls' NIL deals.

After three rounds of realignment, ESPN trying to take out the B12, NIL, divide in TV money, etc.; I‘ve begun to accept that nothing will rally our non-contributing members of the fan base; beyond the current donors, tix holders, etc.. After NY6 win, winningest FB stretch, WBB & MBB success doesn’t do it either. We can’t financial compete against other P5 programs, even all those with smaller state populations and smaller alumni bases.
This FB season was very disappointing and I was frustrated with aspects within of the program, but changes were made. Who is getting off the sidelines and contributing? The number of fans here that don’t donate makes me realize that rallying the casual fan or alumni may never be possible.
and I‘ve heard all the excuses…
I completely agree that the AD could do better in promotion/fundraising, but fans that manage to join CF...can’t find what you are not looking for…Honestly...Cyclone club advertising and collection over the years hasn't been nearly what it could be IMO. You'd be amazed at # of fans on these cyclone forums who never even knew how to donate to it or what it was..
10k might be pushing it... There are 100,000 ISU alums living in Iowa alone.
Asking 10% of living ISU Alums to give $10 month shouldn't be asking too much and breaking anyone's retirement.
I get that not everyone can afford to donate...Everyone's situation is different...and it is understandable.
But I also don't think we've come close to maxing out either.
Kudos to those on here who have given...That is awesome.
Honest question - what is your motivation to repetitively post that you will not support NIL?
Are you trying to convince others not to contribute? If not, they why? Sincerely curious.
Interesting - this is your 4th post in this thread alone. It's weird that you are so emphatic about what you are NOT going to do. Still looking for an answer about your motivation?I made 2 posts, I dont care what anyone chooses to do. Do whatever you want, all the dumb ratings are comical.
Personally, I don't think people should shame those that post comments of support for giving or shame those that post against it. It's a forum for people to give their opinions, and being against something is just as real of an opinion as being for it, as long as it's respectful. I don't think either makes you more or less of a die-hard or true fan.I made 2 posts, I dont care what anyone chooses to do. Do whatever you want, all the dumb ratings are comical.

You having the username ‘AllInForISU’ and just dragging people for donating to the ISU collective is just comically ironic. Like you can’t make this upLol ok.
