I just did a total reinstall of windows XP on my laptop. And I have the OS up and running. Now I'm trying to set up my internet connections. The problem = when I open up my "network connections" folder, the only connection I see is the "1394 connection." I don't have a wireless connection or a Local Area connection. So, there is no way for me to access the internet. Does anybody know how to set up these connections?

Is your wireless card disabled? That seems to happen. In my case, it needs to be disabled on occasion and enabled again to work properly. Check to see if it's disabled.

The driver idea is good, too. You may need to reinstall that.

I can't see if my wireless card is disabled because I don't even have a wireless network, in my network connections folder. I only have the 1394 connection.

But there are some missing drivers for my Network and ethernet controller.. But, when I try to resinstall those drivers, it doesn't work bc it says it can't find the software on my computer, and I can't connect to the internet.

No, I can't find any of them. My Laptop is about 4-5 years old and all of the discs might have gotten lost in all the moving I did through college. I just got this XP copy from a friend.. I fear that I probably need those cd's for some stuff, huh?? lol... Is there anyway I can get their driver cd and use it for my comp? Or, are they probably OEM?

On another machine, go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers for your netword card. Install them and you'll be good to go.
