ISU was doing well early with great chemistry and it was pretty obvious how limited they were in most aspects so the 'what happened!?' calls are pretty baffling.
I’m going to assume it’s somehow related to Iowa playing a terrible schedule in a down big 10, and winning some games.

At least, i think that has something to do with it

7,8,9,10 all basically the same. Just depends on first round matchup.
Yes…those 4 seed lines are usually very similar level teams. The difference, and this year that difference seems to be enormous, is the 2nd round (if you win the 1st round game). The teams who currently look like will be on the 2 line (that we can play…can’t play a Big12 team) are not even close to the 1 line teams. That’s why people say, in theory, a 10 seed is preferable.

TJ took a below average roster to 20 regular season wins. That’s ******* impressive.

This....we have two big 12 players lets be honest.

The fact that we had a perfect non-con is such an amazing accomplishment. This team is disappointing us right now yet is DANCING. 365 days ago we wouldn't have dreamed of our names being called Sunday.

Duke, Kentucky, and Baylor aren't even close to the #1 seeds?

If anything this is the most competitive it's been in years. I could see any of the Top 8 seeds winning the championship and even a team like Tech or Villanova as a 3 seed.

Auburn has looked vulnerable and they have been squeaking out wins all year against bad teams. Arizona and Gonzaga have played weak schedules so its impossible to tell if they are that much better than everyone.
Kansas isn't that good either as we witnessed first hand in Lawrence.

If we draw a long athletic team that can switch every handoff on the perimeter weave we’ll get smoked next week. If we get more of a “traditional” team I’ll be much more confident.

Indeed. That's the key part. Outstanding start to the season to put everyone at ease. We saw glimpses of what the team is capable of at times in conference play, despite not really getting the marquee wins the fans had hoped for. Shellacked Iowa. Dancing next week.

I don't have much expectations heading into next week, but they made it when no one thought it was possible 5 months ago.

Alright time to move on to the big dance. Being able to included in the best sporting event is great as a fan and for our players. First round will be a non big12 team, so that’s great. Last night sucked, but it’s done.

Any win will be gravy to me, but IF we can get past the first round I think ISU can present a challenge to even a 2 seed on a short turnaround.

Don’t be surprised if Duke and Kentucky end up on the 1 line. We can’t play Baylor in the first two rounds. I’m guessing teams like Purdue and Wisconsin will be on the 2 line.

Almost no one can do that period, and no one can do it like Tech.

The biggest disappointment that I have seen this year is the number of Cyclone fans that have trash talked our own players and coaches. These coaches and young men deserve our respect for bucking the odds to win 20 games while maintaining good character on and off of the court. Win or lose I am proud of the effort that this group put in and happily accept them into the Cyclone Family. Go Cyclones.

The #1s will be Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas, SEC team.
The only way Duke gets a 1 is if Kansas, Kentucky, and Auburn all lose in their respective tourneys. Dukes weak schedule won't allow them to get a 1.

Any of the 1s or 2s would be a nightmare scenario for us.

The 2 line is very much so in line with the 1 and actually maybe worse matchups. (Purdue & Kentucky for starters).

It doesn't really matter if they play anywhere close to last night. If Grill & Kalschur both decide to shoot well on the same day I guess getting past that round is possible, but would take a near perfect game against a #1 or #2 seed... of which we've arguably only had one in the last 3 months.

There are six teams possible to play on second game (again only possible if play two million times better than last night). Gonzaga, Purdue, Kentucky, Auburn, Arizona, and Duke (maybe Wisconsin). There's little to no preference to any of them... team will be massively outmatched talent wise against any.

Next year might rival our two win year under Prohm. Our starting 5 next year will probably be Hunter, Grill, Walker, King, and Jones. That is a below average mid-major team. Drake will be better.

We lose IB, Gabe, George, and Jaz. TJ will run off Enaruna and Jackson.

The 4 players he has run off (including Hinson and Foster) would be better.

This might be the dumbest post of the thread, which says something. There is this thing, it’s called a transfer portal. What’s really cool is that TJ seems quite comfortable using it . He has proven that he can get winning players in it.

Drake has a good program right now so the insult doesn’t fit. This isn’t 1981-2019. Pull the Quiet Riot tape out of tape deck.

Hinson and Foster were not team players. Foster is lazy as the day is long. You could see it in high school. I would have taken his teammate Cole Henry in hindsight.

A lot of it is luck. Brockington wouldn't be here if Penn State had retained his coach there.

Agreed. TJ was hired mainly for recruiting not coaching... He is not sending out this lineup next year Hunter, Grill, Walker, King, and Jones... Open scholarships are a good thing... we need to upgrade talent massively.

He is a liability out there. Like, literally I don't know how his playing time can be justified when his shot isn't falling. Our defense and rebounding take massive hits when he's out there. Watch the tape, whenever there is an offensive rebound or wide open shot for the opposing team, it is because he either got beat or missed an assignment. He has no ball handling ability either. Just a total disaster when he isn't making shots. It is plainly obvious that he can't play consistently well at this level, and has shown why he was originally committing to play in the Summit League out of HS.
100% agree! My comment he was out of the game at that point and he was getting ready to check it. You just said everything I yell at my TV every game! I don't understand why he gets the playing time he does?! He looks lost out there, wondering aimlessly leaving opponents wide open on D to score. Yep, he either is beat to the hole because he guards way too close out front, and he is small, they just put him on their hip and drive or he is no where near anyone to defend to begin with. You nailed it, huge liability and it has costs them.
