Youngest daughter turns 16 today. She will probably end up getting her driver's license tomorrow. Ahhhhh!
Son yesterday said while I was driving him to the bus stop, "I want to start driving." Yes, this is the kid who crashed his bike into a mailbox last fall while he was riding about 12 blocks home from the bus stop. He had to get stitches on his chin.

Well he just turns 14 in 4 weeks so we have time to work on that. Luckily not in Iowa where they can get permit at 14. There are a lot more things than just mailboxes jumping out in front of you when you are driving a car.

I don't care that this lady loves her dog, honestly. What do you do is all that I care.
Back in the Level 3 days they hired some executive who gave us this story about being offered early retirement and offered a big pile of money so he took the big pile of money. Then he got to talking to someone at Level 3 and they offered him a big executive salary so now he had a big pile of money and a high paying executive position.

Schools are closing for tomorrow. I remember my senior year, the wind chill was about -40 one day, we were the only school district in the state open.
We got a notice yesterday from son's school district that they were sending technology home with students in the event they switch to distance learning today. Forecast called for negative teens temps at 0800 with wind chill of -37. Well we got the negative teens with a brisk breeze and they went in to school anyway. I don't know what the actual wind chill was. I do know that I had to take the garbage out, work on my car for a few minutes and clean up the crud on the floor of the garage and it was colder than a witch's tit.

I'm okay with them going to school, though.

That two years of driving with a permit was a long time. I know way too many kids that drove their parents' cars by themselves before they actually had their license. That may have been a Fort Dodge thing.

There are a lot of farm kids who are driving vehicles a lot bigger than a 2000 lb. passenger vehicle long before it is time to get a license.
