Not sure I see a top-10 team here long term, but I still see a tournament team. An average, or even slightly below average, 3-pt day wins that game. The rest of the pieces were there.

Our defense was worse than usual on paper. Some of that was Baylor making some well-defended shots and some was our guys looking a little gassed at times. Very tough game, our team is gritty and fought it out to the end.

Baylor had some wide-open threes with some offensive tweaks that I'm not sure I've seen before, so that played a key role several times, too.

My only complaint today is that TJ called a defensive timeout in Hilton after a made basket. Brought back painful painful memories.

…just kidding…kind of

Not a great day. However, he (like our entire team) busts his tail on defense. He took a charge & he played very good d against future pro players. If he wasn’t doing his job, defensively, he would not have played as muchas he did today.

Agreed. But this team can’t have an offensively liability like him today. Hopefully he gets right but 8 empty possessions (2 wide open 3s, 6 TOs) cannot happen.

Obviously things play out differently if you change the circumstances, but if we make one more 3, a couple more ft and get one more stop, things get really interesting in the last minute.

Hats off to Baylor (and I take no joy in saying thar) they responded EVERY SINGLE TIME they needed to. That effort from us will travel and will win us double digit games in conference this season.

Keep building.

still missed several open threes
When talking about 3P shooting, there is an argument that shooting is random.

I don't subscribe to that notion. I do think Baylor's quality defense and length impacts shooting throughout the game. I think we make more open ones against a worse defense.

They definitely impact how few attempts we have. Which I love that this staff has made the team disciplined enough to not shoot themselves out of the game

Bottom line make a few threes and we win the game. Love the effort, showed we can compete with anyone.

Final thought hopefully after that the FF knob slobbers on here can throttle it done a bit.

I am generally not into moral victories, but I felt as optimistic about this team during that loss than I have some of our bigger wins this year. To know we didn’t play close to our best offensively and they hit tough shot after tough shot against good defense, I don’t have any doubt we’re a legit top 10-15 team.

also super impressed with Enaruna. First time I’ve really see him play with much emotion this year and really liked what I saw.

I will end with a provocative question which is whether or not Grill should be getting more minutes than Gabe?

We had several players that were awful on O today.

During the Memphis game they kept talking up Memphis's D when it was pretty obvious ISU was better on defense...today the guys faced a team that is actually that good on defense.
