It is now 60 on my outdoor thermometer, the daytime high hit 58 in south central Iowa, it has gone up all night. The snow and ice are about all gone, and now there are severe thunderstorms in Kansas coming our way. Three days ago it was below zero.

Still 72 down here right now at the Lake of The Ozarks. Wind is picking up and heavy storms are set to hit by 6am. Crazy..

What part of the lake are you on? I am down there quite often and stay on a cove at the 10 MM, near Frankie and Louie's. Hopefully you were boating on the water today if it is that warm.

The weather is setting itself up for something nasty, hopefully no tornadoes.

I was just outside a little bit ago in central Iowa and it was so warm, I almost started sweating... I love it! Typical Iowa weather I suppose.

Our weather radio woke my wife and I this morning when it went off blaring a warning regarding an ice storm this afternoon. We have a love hate relationship with that radio. Seems to me that there are different levels of concern and needs for alarms, while an ice storm would not be one of them.

I'm down here for the next 4 days just loafing and watching bowl games with my wife and little one. We're at 2mm at the Falls. I'd have loved to gotten out yesterday but we might need to have the boat re-winterized by tomorrow. Weather man just said 20's by Sunday morning. Tornado in Benton County right now.

By the way, I love Franki and Louie's. Some of the best pizza on the lake and good gas prices.

we love ours in the spring, summer and fall but it gets unplugged around November and stays unplugged until April. I dont need to know about an ice warning at 2am....winter weather is a bit more predictable and you have plenty of advanced warning so no need for a radio in the winter

Good restaurant, though I am not sure the neighbors like all the boat traffic or music at the end of the cove, the old camping grounds were probably enough for them.

After my post last night, dark cloud blew through, temp dropped 25 degrees in 15 minutes, thunder and lightning 1/2 later, ice on everything this morning.

31 Mile Marker. If you know Bars as land marks I'm in the same cove as "The Fish N' Company" Also close to Captains Galley and about 6 miles from Captain Ron's. Been to Frankie and Louies many times though. Great place. A lot like Captain Ron's but smaller.

We stayed close to that mile marker Labor day weekend, not to far from the "4 corners" part of the lake. The cove I was one was small almost canal width. We were right across the main channel from the Helen "Helen is Sellin' " house.

Before we got our place down at LoO we stayed at Tan-Tar-A many times and used to run that part of the lake. I've water skied in Linn Creek Cove many times. We love the Captains Galley.... their rum runners can't be beat. I've got the recipe but still not quite as good, I think it's the ice. Two years ago my wife and were on vacation in late May and we decided to run up there from the 2mm. We spent 16$ on the two rum runners and about $82 for the gas. It was a great day

I was out at about 7:30pm for a run to Lowes and noticed it's 33deg and spitting snow. That's from about 70 this morning at 8:30am. :wideeyed:

I agree, I really think the folks that live in that cove just have to be PO'd. I love people (boat watching at LoO) watching but do think that would get old after a while. I've had folks yell at me with a bull horn while just idling back to F&L telling me it was a no wake zone. I yelled back.... IF I GO ANY SLOWER I'LL HAVE TO THROW ANCOR. They started yelling at the boat behind me with the same stuff. They seemed very unhappy with the situation.

We make a couple runs a month up to your end of the lake in the summer. Good bands at the Toad and it makes for a great night cruise back home

Change of subject but; where are the best locations to boat on the Ozarks? We have always boated on Truman Lake or on the Osage River but not the Ozarks yet, so just wondering. Thanks.

Tank, it depends on what you want to do....Party, Cove out, eat, ski, or just drive. My best advice is to boat Sunday night - Thursday at the lake otherwise Friday - Sunday can be tough boating unless you're in a 38' go fast or a 40' Cruiser.

In general the 7mm on the main channel (Horny Toad) up to about the 31mm (Captains Galley) in the main boating area. There are places above that and below that but that's the main boating area of the lake. Go up the Gravois Arm up by the 6mm and you'll find some better water and a few really good places to eat...Time Out and Coconuts. If you go down past the 7mm you'll find Dock Knockers which has some good music and decent food. Above the 31mm you'll find places like Captain Ron's, Quakers (38mm), and Big Dicks (48mm).

Now if you really don't want food and you want a party, well, try Party Cove. You'll see just about anything and everything there except for good food. They have them old, young, new, naked, drunk, and on and on. Heck the last couple of years they’ve actually had a band out in the middle of the cove. On a good holiday afternoon you'll find ~1500 boats in the cove ranging from a little fishing boats to million dollar go fast boats, to million dollar cruisers. I enjoy looking at that as much as I do anything. If I had the interest from all of those boats for just one week I think I could become the biggest donar in ISU history. Go up past Party Cove a mile or two and you'll actually find some of the best boating on the lake, it's just Heck to get there with Party Cover before it.

I'm sure there are a few others on here that can offer some additional input. If you have something specific you're looking for let me know I'll give you some input.
